Nestled on the Spanish Mediterranean coast, just 45 minutes from Alicante, SHA Wellness Clinic is dedicated to improving the health and well-being of all guests using a combination of traditional oriental disciplines and innovative Western techniques. The SHA Wellness Clinic is split between the Método SHA, the anti-ageing medicine unit and the aesthetic medicine unit. The Método SHA combines a modern, macrobiotic diet with natural therapies, while the anti-ageing medicine unit uses advanced techniques to slow down the ageing process and prevent illness. The aesthetic medicine unit specialises in non-invasive treatments and techniques to achieve optimum results for both face and body. All programmes and treatments are created and supervised by world experts including Michio Kushi, the world leader in modern macrobiotics.

The SHA Wellness Clinic's 1300 sq metre spa is split between a treatment zone and an aqua-lab zone. The treatment zone has 16 booths offering a wide range of massages, natural therapies and beauty treatments including acupuncture and hydrotherapy. A couple's treatment suite is available and guests can also choose to enjoy treatments by the outdoor infinity pool or within their own suites.

The aqua-lab zone creates a relaxing haven for guests, with pools and steam rooms set within a Zen garden. The zone features a flotarium using saltwater from the Dead Sea and a range of therapeutic pools, hydro-massage beds and relaxation areas. The zone also includes a toning pool, pebble path, tepidarium, sauna, calidarium and sensations shower.

The Spa also offers pedicure and chiropody facilities and a hair salon.

The SHA Wellness Clinic offers 93 guests suites ranging from the 75 square metre Classic suite, to the 320 square metre Presidential suite. All suites are in a modern, minimalist style and facilities include king-size beds, air-conditioning, open-air terraces, en-suite bathrooms with a choice of bath or shower, magnifying mirror, macrobiotic minibar, bathroom scales and digital satellite televisions. Additional options available in some suites include kitchenettes and hydro spas on the private terrace. All suites include complimentary Organic Sodashi products.

The clinic's Main Restaurant combines Mediterranean and Japanese culinary styles with organic ingredients to create a unique range of macrobiotic cuisine. The Snack Bar serves a selection of healthy drinks, cocktails and light snacks on an open-air terrace, while guests can enjoy a range of fruit and herbal teas in the Zen garden setting of the Tea Room.

Activities

Set within landscaped gardens, the clinic's facilities include an infinity-edge pool where guests can relax and enjoy their surroundings. Guests can also take advantage of the gymnasium, tennis courts and putting green. The yoga and meditation rooms are the perfect retreat for ultimate relaxation. The clinic provides an Ecumenical Chapel to cater for spiritual needs and the comprehensive library offers a range of reading material.

Nearby outdoor facilities include horse riding, balloon rides, golf and cultural guided tours of the surrounding areas. Sun seekers will enjoy the nearby beach and the Mediterranean Sea.

I highly recommend visiting SHA. Great location, relaxing atmosphere, good quality treatments and delicious food – who would have thought that macrobiotics is not all about brown rice and beans?! Shiatsu is a must during your stay; I was on cloud nine afterwards. My stay was definitely worth every penny.

I just got back from a short stay at SHA Wellness Clinic which I booked after reading some glowing reviews. I was looking to wind down and loose a few pounds before the Christmas season kicked in.I was pleasantly surprised by the decor which was minimalist but warm and welcoming and there are also amazing gardens, waterfalls with chill-out music playing in the background. My room was bigger than I expected - I even had a walk-in wardrobe and a mini bar full of healthy drinks and snacks.I was put on a macrobiotic diet after my first consultation and was amazed how effective it was after just a few days. Best of all, the ‘diet’ was actually delicious – lots of grains, sea–vegetables, fruits and beans - so I never felt hungry; in fact I felt more energetic than usual.My days were filled with Yoga, Pilates and Tai-Chi classes, treatments like acupuncture, Shiatsu and massages. I had several personal consultations with the clinic’s experts and felt inspired to attend lectures about macrobiotics and healthy-ageing which came with handy cooking instructions. One of the best things I did was use the clinic’s flotarium and I enjoyed a daily walk after lunch in the nearby national park.Some of the other guests were having quite sophisticated beauty treatments and one woman told me she had a DNA test to determine which foods have the best effects on her body.I left SHA feeling truly re-energised and while I lost only a bit of weight while I was there, I learned so much about how to improve my diet. I’ve already lost a few more pounds since I got home by sticking to a few diet principles and I feel much better for it.
