    The beachfront Sibö Rainforest Spa & Retreat at Los Suenos Marriott Ocean & Golf Resort, located one hour and forty five minutes from the San José International Airport, is surrounded by more than 1,000 acres of brilliant tropical rain forest in the coastal town of Playa Herradura, known for its black-sand beaches and turquoise waters. With an on-site casino and a 250-slip marina, the Spanish colonial-style resort has garnered accolades such as Travel & Leisure's "World's Best" award.

    Following a Costa Rican-inspired treatment at the Sibö Rainforest Spa & Retreat, guests can take a dip in the palm tree-lined outdoor pool or enjoy a cocktail at its swim-up bar. Golfers can enjoy a round on the 18-hole, par-72 course, playing to a crowd of monkeys and macaws residing in the bordering ecological setting.

Taking its name from the Cabecar Indians, Costa Rica's largest Indian tribe, the Sibö Rainforest Spa & Retreat features a menu of services inspired by ancient indigenous rituals. The all-organic menu utilizes extracts from the surrounding area such as exotic plants, fruits, and rainwater, as well as products from the Eminence Organics line.

Offerings include massages, body scrubs and wraps, facials, mani/pedi services, and hydrotherapy treatments. Guests can also indulge in "Retreats from the Tropical Forest," such as the Tulu ritual, which combines a mini-facial, black forest mud body treatment, and indigo bath, or the Rain treatment, a 110-minute healing ritual that includes an herbal clay facial, cellulite body treatment, Vichy shower, and turquoise bath.

The 12,500-square-foot spa has 11 treatment rooms, including a couple's suite with a private terrace. Guests can complement their spa experience with time in the steam room, sauna, or whirlpool.

This was the most unique SPA experience my husband and I have had. Commencing with the culturally rich meaning of all the indigenous elements that are part of the motif and decor of the Sibo Spa, which gave a whole different mindset to our experience. Every room we entered felt special and the prelude to our "Couple's massage" was just wonderful. All the attendants we encountered were knowledgeable and friendly and treated us like royalty. The relaxation massage we requested gave us all that we were hoping for and more. I also had a facial treatment done before our couple's massage and I felt a huge difference in my face due to the quality of products they use on my skin. The special touches from beginning to end made this trip to the Sibo Spa an unforgettable one.

Sibo at the Los Suenos Marriott is probably one of the best spas in Costa Rica. I had the 90 minute hot stone massage which was excellent. The spa facility was not as large as I would have expected from such a large resort. It also faces the gardens, so there are no views of the ocean. The service was spectacular and the staff was extremely attentive. I was greated with fresh fruit and a drink made of fruit juices a the end of my masage. Jacuzzi, waiting and lounging areas are a bit on the small side.
