Its world-acclaimed diet-and-exercise program and lush, tropical setting make Pritikin the vacation choice for health, weight loss, and relaxation. After an active day in class, you can indulge in massage therapies such as shiatsu, Swedish, aromatherapy, Trager, neuromuscular therapy, reflexology, and deep tissue in the 10,000-square-foot spa. Or you can choose from a variety of facials and wraps as well as paraffin, eye, and back treatments. There are also indoor and outdoor whirlpools, a steam room, and sauna.
The contemporary 13-treatment room spa is adjacent to the hotel. The roster of spa treatments is designed by senior therapists to complement the medical, nutritional, and exercise components of your Pritikin Program. Upon arriving at the spa, you'll receive a comfy robe and slippers, and tea and fruit are served throughout the day. The fitness center, located in the same building, offers more than 100 private and group classes a day, including the ever-popular salsa aerobics.

The Pritikin waterfront resort features 75 oversized, deluxe rooms or suites, all with a spectacular water view and balcony. Each room has amenities like plush terry cloth bathrobes, cotton slippers, and fresh orchids, and many have huge whirlpool tubs.
Nathan Pritikin created the Pritikin Eating Plan, rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and spices, in the late 1950s. Unwilling to passively accept his newly diagnosed heart disease, the 41-year-old engineer studied cultures from around the world that were virtually free of heart disease and adapted their diets to American tastes. His cholesterol plummeted from almost 300 to 120, and his angina (chest pain) vanished.
Today the program Nathan Pritikin developed is used in the resort's restaurant, where guests eat all their meals. Award-winning chefs prepare a full array of sumptuous dishes. And there's no starve-yourself diet plan at Pritikin. Meals are served five to six times daily. Delectable highlights include sockeye salmon served on morel risotto, panzanella herb salad, tuna carpaccio, stone crabs, grilled filet of bison with warm onion marmalade, eggplant curry on peppersi, chocolate mousse, and Chardonnay-poached pears. Though rich in flavor, Pritikin cuisine is not calorie-rich. Many guests shed ten pounds or more in just two weeks.

Upon arrival, guests receive a health evaluation by a team of physicians who focus on nutrition and fitness as well as overall health. Guests attend a range of activities all geared toward helping turn healthful intentions into healthful habits. The resort offers nutrition and weight-loss workshops, cooking classes that emphasize fast and simple meals, seminars on dining out healthfully, classes in heart disease, diabetes, and cancer prevention, women's health workshops, and seminars on stress management. Guests also participate in custom-designed exercise classes, including cardiovascular training, Pilates, aquatics, yoga, salsa aerobics, cardio-boxing, strength training, and meditation.
There is ample time for downtime delights. You can kick back on your private balcony and enjoy balmy breezes and the inter-coastal waters. You couldplay golf at two Robert Trent Jones, Sr. championship courses; enjoy day and night tennis on clay or hard courts; stroll along an four-mile walking path shaded by lush and exotic trees; or refresh yourself with a leisurely walk on the beach. Additionally there are exhilarating outdoor sports, like sailing, deep-sea fishing, biking, canoeing, and kayaking.
