    Open in 1907, the Langham Huntington, Pasadena, on the foot of the San Gabriel Mountains exudes timeless elegance and allure in a secluded setting, though just minutes from downtown Los Angeles.     The Huntington Spa, featuring 4,800 square feet, encompasses 13 treatment rooms and a vast menu of classic treatments and traditional Chinese medicine. The Huntington Spa provides a sanctuary of wellness in the Pasadena hotel, with 13 treatment rooms, an outdoor swimming pool, salon, and steam, sauna, and whirlpool areas. To complement its menu of treatments, the spa includes a fitness center supplied with Technogym equipment. Tai chi, Pilates, and kickboxing classes are available, as are up to 14 yoga classes weekly.

Guests can retreat to the spa's Chuan Body + Soul corridor, where a treatment menu draws inspiration from Traditional Chinese Medicine. Rituals include acupuncture, acupressure, cupping, moxibusion, and body wraps and scrubs, in addition to facials and massage services.

When i called to schedule the appointment I asked if I would have access to the fitness room and pool and I was told yes. However, when I arrived and asked about the pool I was told that only guests of the hotel had access to the pool. Misinformation, booo! Next, the front desk greeting/orientation was under-whelming. I have been to other spas and they normally walk you through and show you where everything is. I was basically just taken to my locker; the receptionist pointed to the whirlpool to show me where it was and that was about it. I was told to go back to the contemplation room a few minutes before my service to meet my provider. In other spas the service provider finds you when its time for your service. Also, the sauna, whirlpool area was very small. I guess this hotel looked so "fru-fru" on the website I expected swankier facilities. They are basically on par with a Burke williams or glen Ivy. All that being said. . . Coline is AMAZING! I got the Alpha/Beta peel. HEAVEN! Usually i hate when they do the head massage but Coline had me DRUNK! Her pressure was perfect. I really was expecting a minimal service for my $70 but I left feeling as though I had a full facial service and massage. I will be going back!

Langham Hotel only has Valet parking (no self parking). However, if you're just visiting the spa, they allow you to park in the spa's parking lot free - it's right in front of the spa (the building is called The Carriage House & it's on the right side, just after you turn in to the hotel). I got the 60min. Chuan Balancing Massage. Since it was my 1st time getting this massage, my masseuse decided she would use both traditional Swedish massage techniques coupled w/the acupressure. She started w/me facing belly up & massaged my face/scalp/neck before applying pressure to certain parts of my arms, legs & feet. It continued with me face-down where she massaged my back as well as back of my arms/legs. It was so relaxing I think I fell asleep a few times! The women's facilities had a sauna, steam room & jacuzzi. The jacuzzi was small. What made this spa stand out for me were their LUXURIOUS robes (the best I've had), drenching showers, toiletries & exceptional service. Best part - a "post-treatment" room to relax & recuperate in after your massage. After a massage, I usually feel disoriented when stepping out of the room. Here, she gave me a cup of hot tea & I was able to gather myself collectively before heading back to my locker!

I had their 60 minute Signature Massage in July 2011 when I was a guest at the Langham Huntington, and it was exactly what I hoped for. The young man at the front desk was very warm and helpful and provided me with some forms to fill out asking specific questions regarding my health and lifestyle to personalize my treatment. I was shown back to the lounge, which is absolutely stunning from the lockers to the little whirlpool grotto. The lounge is also complete with a sauna and steamroom and is both aesthetically pleasing and incredibly relaxing. My therapist's name, I believe was something like Michelle, but she was wonderful. Great touch, very nice energy and very responsive to my requests regarding pressure. Love this spa, and the whole hotel too actually!
