The Hotel del Coronado is located on the 7.4-square-mile island of Coronado, which is in San Diego Bay and linked to San Diego by bridge. This Victorian-era hotel, known simply as "The Del," has a prime beachfront location, with full or partial ocean views from many of its guest rooms. Built in 1888 and now a National Historic Landmark, the resort has played host to U.S. presidents, King Edward VIII (who abdicated the throne to marry Coronado resident Wallis Simpson), Thomas Edison, L. Frank Baum, and Charles Lindbergh, among many others. The resort was also one of the backdrops for the movie Some Like it Hot, and it's rumored to have its own ghost. There are several pools, a beach, and programs for children and teenagers. The Spa at the Del has ocean views and hydrotherapy-focused treatments. The resort hosts weddings and has meeting space as well.

Had a great massage and facial, wonderful facilities, cant be beat. Pricey, but worth it for the view from the spa pool! Pedicure is at the salon, Polish did not last that long and they mischarged me and then fixed it without telling me first. I had to call to find out why.

I really enjoyed my experience in the Spa at the Hotel del Coronado. I was greeted right away and shown around this beautiful spa. The 2 treatments I had were amazing and all employees I interacted with were so kind and very informative. I recommend this Spa to anyone that's going to be in the San Diego area you will not be disappointed.

The Spa at the Del was absolutely wonderful. It was so relazing and the treaments were great. On Wednesdays you can get a massage and/or a facial for $99 each. After my treatments, I just layed out at the spa pool with my comfortable robe and just relaxed for a few hours. I will definately visit again when I'm in San Diego. Everyone at the spa was pleasant and very nice, especially Monica.

My boyfriend and I loved our visit to the Del Spa. We got a deal and wanted to try this spa out. Our verdict: we can't wait to go there next. The only problem is the price. It's so ridiculously expensive at full price but they do have deals if you check out their website. The facilities are basically the same compared to other luxury spas I've been to (steam room, indoor jacuzzi, etc) but the one thing that stands out is their private outdoor area only for spa customers. It has a breathtaking view of the ocean and also a nice pool. It's just a relaxing area after a massage. I would recommend avoiding the peak days like Saturdays so you can utilize the facilities with less people. I went on a Sunday and it wasn't bad.

We go to the Del each year and I save for my experience at the Spa. On the day we book our service, we have access to the spa amenities for the entire day - and I love to relax in the steam room and the beautiful infinity pool outside. To top things off, Yamaguchi's is a great salon, best hair treatment ever.

I was so delighted to find this spa on a recent trip to CA. The hotel of course is so well known . . . but the spa is just as fantastic! My facial was wonderful but event more so was the private outdoor pool with beach views and the attendant who catered to all my needs: tea upon arrival, constant attention to make sure I have everything I needed. She even noticed that the robe was small since I'm tall and curvy and got me a larger one . . . something I would have been too shy to request. Also, I noticed some girls having a spa party and it seemed like a great fun . . . this would be a great place for an event with friends. If you find yourself in SD this is a great spa to visit!

I came here with the rest of a bridal party right before my sisters wedding. For it being summertime and a Saturday the spa was almost empty, it almost felt like we had the spa to ourselves. While my massage was not the best I have had it still hit the spot before all the events of the day started. The facilities were great and all of the staff was very helpful.

I have visited this spa on three separate occasions and the services have been relaxing and consistent. The facilities are beautiful and the overall experience is fantastic. The services are a little on the pricey side, but in line with pricing in general on Coronado Island.

This is an annual getaway for my husband and I, we love the Del. I enjoyed a day at the spa last year with a facial, a massage, and my first waxing - on my eyebrows. The esthetician was wonderful, kind, and professional. My husband did not know I went, but noticed that I looked "radiant" when we had lunch. It was really fun!

I enjoyed the spa very much and I would recommend deep tissue massage with Sheila or Brenen and Asian fusion with Vernon, Facial with Ashlee. But don't bother with body wrapps. The staff is not trained or knowledgeable, the prices exceed by far the results. I'm not sure if the tips get to the staff so be aware..Buy the 6 packs

Spa at the Del, a slice of heaven.

Over the past 30+ years work and pleasure have taken me to over 364 cities in 15 countries and whenever possible I look for a spa experience to wash away the jet lag, rejuvenate my spirit and ready myself for whatever the day ahead may bring. On a few occasions my day is the Spa. I have visited a number of spas around the globe and would highly recommend the Spa at the Del. My experience at the Del was a slice of heaven. From my pedicure and hot oil massage to relaxing in the pool and steam room, this spa experience is one of my most memorable. I was taken care of from the moment I walked in the door, until I reluctantly left. Also known as the 'The Del' to local residents, Hotel del Coronada is a beachfront luxury hotel in the city of Coronado, just across the San Diego Bay from San Diego, California. It is one of the few surviving examples of an American architectural genre: the wooden Victorian beach resort. It is one of the oldest and largest all-wooden buildings in California and was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1977. When it opened in 1888, it was the largest resort hotel in the world and the first to use electrical lighting. It has hosted presidents, royalty, and celebrities throughout the years. The hotel has been featured in numerous movies and books. This classic beachfront respite has long been heralded as one of America's most beautiful beach resorts. A pronouncement underscored by its designation as a National Historic Landmark in 1977. Today, The Del offers guests a unique combination of modern luxury touched with the charm and grace of this fairytale castle. When it first opened in 1888, the Hotel del Coronado was considered the premier vacation and health destination, where the sea-swept air was both preservative and restorative. Although early visitors certainly appreciated the therapeutic effects of saltwater bathing and fresh ocean air, these weren't the seashore's only allure. Victorians were also drawn to the soul-satisfying aesthetics the seascape provided. The Del's unparalleled oceanfront location gave early visitors the chance to enjoy one of nature's most inherently beautiful landscapes: sand, sun and sea. More than a century later, the timeless Pacific tides and breezes of this San Diego spa resort still have the power to restore the mind, body and spirit. The new state-of-the-art facilities feature 21 massage and treatment rooms, hydrotherapy tubs, a relaxation area for both men and women, steam rooms and California spa treatments. Guests are able to unwind at the Spa's expansive private terrace with a fire pit and vanishing edge pool overlooking the magnificent Windsor Lawn and the Pacific Ocean. The Spa at The Del was recently named one of the Top 20 Hotel Spas in the world by Travel + Leisure magazine. The Del offers a fabulous pedicure and pedicures are definitely on my 'to do list' to keep my feet healthy and happy. This is really important as I'm not a socks person and love wearing all kinds of sandals and flip flops in the summer. There is nothing better than sinking into the massage chair while the esthetician bathes, chisels, files and paints my toes. Oh yes and massages my feet and lower legs, how heavenly is that! I have loved having my toes painted since I was a child when my aunt would patiently and lovingly apply all the colours of the rainbow. Now my preference is an elegant French manicure on my toes. A pedicure involves grooming the toenails, exfoliating dead skin that may have become dry and hard, tending to the cuticles, calluses, moisturizing and polish. The word pedicure comes from the Latin words pedis, which means of the foot, and cura, which means care. Regular pedicures can help prevent nail diseases and nail disorders. I also had a steam which is so good for the body.the steam room for three good reasons, strengthening your immune system, improve circulation and help detoxify the lymphatic system. The benefits of steam have been known for thousands of years. Throughout history steam has been used to enhance a sense of well being and improve overall health. While steam rooms have primarily been located in health clubs or gyms, cutting edge technology has provided an opportunity to enjoy the benefits of steam at home for very reasonable prices. A good steam opens up the pores, increases the metabolism, elevates heart rate, and makes the body sweat. The average person has approximately 2.6 million sweat glands and during a good steam you can sweat out up to 30% of built up toxins. Some spas have also introduced the use of aromatherapy to provide additional health benefits. The warm, moist air of the steam room increases circulation and helps loosen and relax muscles and joints and maintain overall flexibility and your skin will be cleaner, softer, and healthier, especially if an exfoliating scrub is used to gently remove dry surface skin. And added benefit for those with respiratory conditions is steam opens up the lungs and bronchial tubes--something every mother knows when dealing with a sick child. It is generally recommended to take a warm shower before entering the steam room and remain for up to 15 minutes--if it's really hot you might only stay for a few minutes. Listen to your body and leave if you are feeling uncomfortable. Once out of the steam room take a cool shower or plunge and allow the body to return to a normal temperature before re-entering. Do not steam more than 3 times in one session. And of course you need to drink lots of water during your steaming. As with any exercise program you should always consult your doctor before indulging in steam rooms as some medical conditions might preclude the healthy benefits.
