About Urban Muse
The Urban Muse has eight spacious treatments rooms artfully decorated in contemporary Asian motifs. There is also a steam and shower room. Natural materials like wood, copper, and river stones are used throughout the tranquil space. The spa offers Swedish, deep tissue, prenatal, aromatherapy, sports, and warm stone massage. Mud wraps and facials are available as well. The Urban Muse allows 30 minutes between each appointment to ensure that clients enjoy their treatments in a relaxed environment.Location

I treated myself to a 90 minute Deep Tissue massage recently and had a great experience at Urban Muse. And I got lucky because the weather was beautiful and I was able to continue my relaxing day with a walk outside and a bite to eat on the street. Will definitely be going back!

I have been to this spa several times and it has consistently given great services. The down fall, is the waiting area and the lack of snacks. I would consider it a high end spa minus the waiting area, no lockers and lack of snacks. Otherwise great place with reasonable prices!

Went to get a 75 min massage right before the New Year and I'm so glad I chose the Urban Muse. The atmosphere there was very calming and relaxing. The staff was very accomdating and helpful as well. The massage was excellent my massues was very professional and gave a great massage. I also like that they have a spa shower that you can you when you are done with your massage. I will definately visit again for future services. Thank you Urban Muse.

I decided to give the Urban Muse another try because the last treatment I received was so fantastic, and I was not disappointed.
I had a 90 minute Deep Tissue Massage, and it was by far the best spa treatment I had ever had! My therapist, Jillian, was superb and was very attentive to making this treatment everything I wanted ity to be. She's a real asset to the Spa.
I was in the upstairs part of the Spa this time, which has a nice, big relaxation room that is very well decorated. A very quiet, peaceful, and relaxing atmosphere. A wonderful steam shower afterward capped off the treatment.
I left the spa very relaxed. Many thanks to the staff at the Urban Muse, especially Denise Joy and Jillian for making sure I had a wonderful experience. I will definitely be back, and have put Urban Muse gift cards on my Christmas list! I hope Santa comes through. Many thanks!

It took many years to find the perfect massage for me, but the Urban Muse is it! The atmosphere is relaxing, the therapists professional and the staff extremely helpful. I have been going there for over three years and would never switch. In addition to all the Muse has done for me, they are extremely generous in the community. Their Wellness Clinic for Cancer Patients is extremely beneficial for all in need. I would recommend the Muse to anyone seeking a professional massage in extremely peaceful surrounding.

Recently had a massage/wrap at Urban Muse. Masseuse/staff = excellent. Spa is disappointing.
When you walk in, you are in the retail store. You are led to the back area through a glass door and down a long narrow hallway with 8 treatment rooms on the sides. The relaxation room is at the end, and is extremely small. It's decorated very nicely, with snacks and water available. As I tried to relax, the room was noisy. First, there are 2 doors into the spa, the store entrance, and a back employee only one. Every time those doors are opened (happened a lot), a beeping sound goes off, like a burglar alarm door sensor. Also, through the back employee door you can hear employees talking and laughing with each other. This is not relaxing Also, you can see the front glass door from part of the relaxation room, so patrons in the store can look in and see you. Lots of talking in the hallway during my treatment also. Only 1 shower (with steam, that did not work), and a separate bathroom down the hall. No sauna, lockers, or jacuzzi.
Nice people, and if you're looking for just a great treatment, go here. If you're looking for more spa/atmosphere/amenities...look elsewhere. Gave 4 stars b/c of great massage, otherwise a 3.

I’ve gone to The Urban Muse several times for both massages and facials and always leave feeling pampered. The therapists are kind, attentive, and knowledgeable. The services I’ve had have been thorough and relaxing. Not to mention the environment they’ve created is tranquil, earthy, and makes me forget about the world outside. I always get a steam beforehand, which definitely adds to the overall experience, and they also have a cool gift shop that’s fun to breeze around while I’m trying to walk off my post-service space-brain. I will definitely go back. All around aces.

I love going to new spas and after all the hype over this spa I figured I should check it out. The man working at the front dresk was very nice and friendly. Now while the spa is very relaxing and beautiful, my facial was def the worst I ever had. I had the Vit. C peel Facial with Grace. The facial was relaxing but not that benifital to my skin. Grace left me to get undressed for a good 10 mins and when I had questions about the products she was using on me she couldn't answer any of them or give me anytake home info on them. I felt like I was a bother to her. She gave me a peel and then didn't even put any sunscreen on me! She also didn't put any eyecream on me and the facial was not 75 mins as advertised, I was checked out and in my car within 75 mins. So, I would def never recomend or have another treatment with Grace again, but because of the relaxing enviornment I may try a massage there.

After reading the reviews here I bought a spafinder gift certificate and booked a de-stress package. I'm so glad i did! The staff was friendly and helpful, but not too chatty. There was no pushing to buy products or additional services.
The atmosphere is quiet and peaceful. The music was probably just a little too loud, but relaxing. The relaxation area has a wall waterfall, drinks and light snacks. The treatment room was dimly lit with a muted lamp and electric candles.
I was expecting the facial first, but they started me with the massage, which was very relaxing. My massage therapist was very skilled, asking me a few pertinent questions along the way. I did wish the lotion had a scent to it, but it wasn't supposed to be an aromatherapy massage, so I shouldn't have expected it.
The facial was very indulgent and included a neck and shoulder massage, as well as a hand and foot massage. She asked along the way about my comfort level, etc.
I think the prices are very reasonable, given the level of service. I definitely plan on returning!

I never thought with my sensitive skin that I would ever be able to get a facial -- I was so happy when I saw the "Harmony Facial" for sensitive skin and thought -- let me try it. I loved it and I did not have an allegic reaction, which is amazing. It was wonderful and I plan of treating myself again in the future. Absolutely amazing.

I used to spa-hop looking for better services and atmosphere, but since I first went to Urban Muse, I've become a loyalist. It's a great value, is you define that as what you get for the price. The DeStress Package is great-- the facial portion involves a shoulder, arm, and lower leg/foot massage. I was so relaxed after that I didn't even need the Surrender massage that followed! But of course, that was wonderful too. Sometimes I think about going somewhere else, but honestly I just can't bring myself to do it anymore. It's like your favorite dish at your favorite restaurant-- you think about trying something new, but that dish is just so great you end up ordering it again and again...

I went to this spa with 3 of my girlfriends for a birthday girls day.
I get massages pretty often and I must say...I had the signature massage and it was probably top 5 for me.
I highly recommend it...the only think is I wish there was a locker room/shower area to relax before and after.

I had a great first time at The Urban Muse. I heard about the spa from friends in the area so I had to try it out and I'm glad I did. The spa was beautiful and everyone was so friendly. I've been going to Spa's all over the country for 20 years and I have to say that the best facial I have ever received is here. My therapist Kim was very friendly and helpful. I was a little nervous at first because my therapist looked young but she's taught me not to judge someone by how old you are. I ask her several questions about the facial treatments, product lines and ingredients and even medical services. She knew her stuff! I couldn't believe how smart this young lady was! The facial was so much more and my skin came out awesome! She also took her time with me afterwards and help me with some products for home care. I cant wait until next time to get another facial with Kim. They have a package called ' destress-package ' which is a facial and a massage. I'm going to have to hint this to my husband for my birthday! I would check out the store too they have very interesting things.

This is the best thing you can do for yourself! (Better yet, hint for a gift certificate to this place!) I have had facials, massages, and holistic treatments here. You will not only spend your specific treatment time with the most professional, trained, courteous staff and therapists, but plan to spend extra time having a steam shower and/or unwinding in one of the two relaxation rooms (the water features on the wall and the awesome teas served are my favorites!). You will also want to set aside time to browse in the gift shop. They have the best relaxation CDs, cards, gifts, teas, jewelry, essential oils, etc. When you have an appointment here, you are relaxed the week before (just in anticipation) as well as a long time after! Ahhh!

I have had many massages and treatments in a variety of settings, but I typically shy away from places like this, as I've usually ended up w/ a rub-down, not a true massage, where I felt I paid more for the environment than the quality of the actual treatment received. Not so here. My massage therapist was knowledgeable about pressure points, worked diligently to reduce the areas of tension and was very concerned about my comfort the entire time. The lavender and lemongrass hand treatment was divine and I truly felt like it was a wonderful treat, rose petals and all... The Swedish massage worked out many of the kinks, and I left there feeling like a weight had been lifted from my shoulders and everywhere else. I would definitely recommend the Urban Muse, everything from the location to the great gift shop made it a perfect way to spend a winter Sunday afternoon in NJ. I will definitely be back.

I was lucky enough to receive a gift certificate to Urban Muse for Christmas. I made an appointment for a Warm Stone Massage and a Peppermint Foot and Leg Soak/Rub. I've been to other spas in the area and think this is by far the best as far as quality and service.
PROS:
* They give you a parking permit for Denville Municipal lot
* Very accomodating with appointments, customer service, etc.
* The expertise of the technicians was exceptional. It was by far the best massage I have ever received
* Setting is small, intimate and Asian-themed.
* Tea and snacks provided
CONS:
* The only con I have is that the relaxation area can be a little louder than I'd like, largely because it is a small space. It was not overly distracting, however.

This is my favorite spa. I cannot say enough about it. The facials here are outstanding and include a mini massage that relaxes you so much, that by the time the facial ends you feel like you have been on a week's vacation.The staff are so pleasant and attentive. They have a wonderful store with a no pressure browse at your leisure feel. I love it.
