The hotel is located on the site of an ancient spring once used by the Romans and later by the Grand Duke of Tuscany, Francesco Stefano of Lorena, who established his summer residence here in 1743. Re-opened in 2004 after a full renovation, the property has state-of-the-art television and other luxurious touches in the guest rooms and offers the latest medical treatments in its wellness center. But it continues to showcase the allures which first made it famous: natural spring water can still be enjoyed in two baths, and the local mud is utilized in many of the spa treatments.

Located in the 18th-century summer residence of the Grand Dukes of Tuscany, this first-class spa enjoys the benefits of its hot spring water, known since Roman times for its therapeutic properties. The medical spa offers therapeutic weight-loss programs, detox packages, beauty treatments, and diet assessments. There are also two hot spring water pools at 38° C for relaxing, soaking, or fitness activities. Signature treatments such as the Duo treatment for couples and the K Parcour include a thermal steam bath in the Grand Duke's natural cave.

The hotel also offers a wellness center overseen by medical doctors. Guests can partake of treatments individually or opt for weeklong wellness programs (which include the Weight loss, Beauty, Detox, and Starter). The comprehensive list of services includes everything from massage therapy, detoxification, after weight loss programs, and microdermolifts to anti-cellulite wraps and remise en forme, as well, personal trainers and trainers disciplined in Pancafit with Raggi method are available.

The Bio-energetic Check-up is ideal for anyone who wants his or her health evaluated in accordance with the principles of traditional Chinese medicine. General medical evaluations are also available at the spa.

There are 18 treatment rooms in the 1,000-square-meter spa. Additional features include a sauna, steam room, and separate men's and women's locker areas.

Bagni di Pisa's luxurious origins are evident in the elegant guest rooms, which feature frescoed vaulted ceilings from the 18th century along with floors of marble and of smooth crushed stone. fantastic bedrooms and public rooms and the outside dining - with brilliant service - was amazing (and tasty). The spa experience is extremely well planned - loved the water with a great combination of hot mineral water and cool pool. Had an aromatherapy massage and a microdermabrasion facial - felt the years falling away. For a spa experience - unbeatable.

This is a beautifully renovated old building - great decoration and very spacious rooms. The staff were very friendly and the private Hammam cave experience was a lot of fun! Dining was good and you can juust about see the Leaning Tower of Pisa in the distance from the Dining Room windows. Good base for Lucca and Pisa and would definitely go back.

Been to a lot of spas. Special here is the great newly decorated rooms. This is an old estate converted to a spa hotel. Thermal mineral waters, new spa added, great dining room and really in a cute town just about 15 mintues from Piza. This is a place to spend a few days at and really enjoy a piece of Italy. The bar is to write home about for decor. Bartender knows his stuff and is fun to talk to.

  • The Galileo Galilei International Airport in Pisa is 20 minutes away. Pisa is also a stop on the Tirrenica railroad line, and San Giuliano Terme is a stop on the Pisa-Florence railroad line via Lucca.


  • The unit of currency in Italy is the Euro. You can go to any airport, ATM, seaport, or railway station to make a currency exchange. Keep currency exchange receipts in order to change currency back to US dollars.
