The Lodge at Woodloch, opened in June 2006, is an exclusive 57-room luxury destination spa offering complete spa programming in a strikingly beautiful natural setting. Guests are enticed to explore the spa's lush 150 wooded acres and meditate by the banks of its private 15-acre lake. The spa's programs, classes, and therapies encourage personal awakening and are geared toward lasting lifestyle changes. The Lodge at Woodloch boasts a 40,000-square-foot spa with an extensive array of offerings for thorough rejuvenation. Guests can recline by the fire at the coed Whisper Lounge following treatments or enjoy the heated outdoor terrace with infinity-edge whirlpool. The Aqua Garden is a hydrotherapy area bordered by natural boulders and featuring eight-foot and four-foot hydro-massage Waterwalls in addition to therapeutic soaking pools.
A wide range of all-natural spa treatments is performed in 27 treatment rooms including two couple's suites and two combination suites with private soaking tubs and showers. Among the spa's signature treatments is Awakening the Senses "Head to Toes," a holistic multi-sensory body experience that combines polish, wrap, massage, and personalized choices of aromatherapy, chromatherapy, and healing sounds. An essential oil detoxification complex is applied prior to a full-body White Oak scrub. Two customized rebalancing wraps of warm citrus and seaweed are partnered with a neck and head massage. Next, an application of antioxidant moisturizer is applied. A surprise gourmet treat to tantalize the palate completes the experience.
Fitness facilities encompass an entire floor of the spa, including a 3,500-square-foot, fully equipped cardiovascular and weight-training studio with personal training alcoves, yoga/Pilates and meditation studios, two private fitness/lifestyle consultation rooms, and lounge with juice bar. Guests can work out on state-of-the-art Cybex weight training equipment and next-generation spinning bikes, or participate in a variety of exercise classes such as Cardio Kickboxing, Ultimate Abs, Drums Alive, and Power Sculpt. There is also an indoor pool specially designed for water sports and aqua fitness activities.

I went to the lodge for a midweek getaway and had a great experience. All of my treatments were awesome ans the facilities were beautiful. The food was excellent and the service was great too. It is a fairly large building, but everything is spread out and there are not that many guest rooms so it is very quiet. There is something for everyone here- lots of activities to choose from.

In February of 2012, my husband and I visited the Lodge at Woodloch for our 25th wedding anniversary and it was pure luxury! We had the freedom of dining for breakfast and lunch in our robes as many other people did too. Every meal was A++ excellent; the service was even better!! For example, two servers would bring our meal so we were presented our food at exactly the same time! Our spa services were excellent and we loved the outdoor hot tub as a light snow fell upon us! Just a wonderful escape!

My husband and I stayed in one of their suites for the weekend, 2/2012. The best thing about this place is that it is Adults Only, & they have a "no Cell Phone" policy in common areas. There are only 55 rooms, so you never feel crowded & the Lodge manages to give every person the attention they need. It is very expensive but totally worth it if you need a close weekend getaway without the hassle of the airport. The price includes all of your meals as well as access to the pools, fitness center, & classes. They offer a wide variety of activities (painting, geocache, skiing, hiking). If you are a Yoga fan, this is the place for you since it offers at least 10 different types of yoga as well as meditation, pilates, Zumba, spinning. Outdoor jacuzzi was lovely, esp in the snow! The food was gourmet spa-quality, with different gluten-free & vegan options. The bathrooms also offer filtered potable water from the sink (this was important to me). The coffee that was served was one of the best that I've ever had (Dewey Egbert). My husband & I each got an amazing facial & massage. The Lodge has won several awards-- "6th best spa in the world," which it deserves, but just remember you are in the Poconos...not Bali or Hawaii.

I have been here many times and the facilities are amazing. Weather you are coming just for the day or to stay it is great.
They have remodeled their Lotus Salon and now have a New Master Stylist Chris , she is amazing. They have expanded their Salon menu and now have color services and hair extension services.
You won't be disapointed!!!!!!

The Lodge at Woodloch Pines exceeded all my expectations for a destination spa. The staff was absolutely fabulous from the gentlemen who took our bags at arrival, to the front desk, dining room personnel, instructors, spa personnel etc. Everyone was helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. I went with two friends and we all felt the same way.
The rooms and bathrooms were large, beautiful and immaculate. The food in the dining room was delicious and plentiful. The dining room itself was lovely. The entire place was very comfortable and elegant at the same time. There were so many places to just sit and relax.
The classes were excellent. I took a dance fusion, gentle yoga, mat piilates and stretch and relax class during the two days we were there. All were excellent. The instructors really watch over you.
I had two spa treatments. The first was a rosemary awakening which had a full body scrub and a massage. It was wonderful. The next day I had reflexology. It was also great. The facilities in the spa are wonderful with a beautiful pool, two whirlpools, a steam room and a sauna.
I particularly appreciated that they added all gratuities to the room charge and the spa charges so we didn't have to concern ourselves with tipping.

Husband and I just returned from our 3rd trip there ( two overnight stays, and one day spa visit for me while hubby played golf at sister resort's world class course literally right across the road).
Facilities, food, amenities, classes, instructors are all exemplary, the rooms and spa/retreat areas and pools as well as the guest-accessible common areas are well thought out, never crowded, and constantly maintained and kept top notch.
I love the fact you can use all facilities and participate in activities from early on arrival day to late on day of departure, and the lockers, amenities and space provided make it completely hassle free to do so.
My tip: try something completely new... be it a fitness or spiritual class you never did before, a painting workshop ( I call it Masterpieces for Klutzes.. the instructor is amazing and *everybody* takes home something they can be proud of!) , or just try to NOT schedule every minute and allow yourself to BE and REST instead of "doing it all".
This place is great for quiet solitary introspection as well as enjoying a loved one's company in beautiful surroundings.

I spent three very relaxing days at the Lodge at Woodloch Spa. I cannot not express how happy I was with my room accommodations, the surrounding grounds and the many spa facilities available to me, they all deserve 5 stars in my book. The food and service was also 5 star all the way. I have never been anywhere on vacation where the staff was as pleasant, helpful and always going out of their way to please and accommodate my ever need. I really have no negative comments regarding this spa, their accommodations or services. I cannot wait to return next year.

I could write a long paragraph about how amazing the staff is, from the moment you walk in they , the views outstanding, the firepit at night is warm and inviting, the food, fresh and abundant, the fitness classes are relaxing and challenging, including the art classes however, this is about spa services.
This spa will NOT disappoint! The decor is very crisp and simple. There are private dressing rooms with personal showers in the rooms. Calming relaxation/whisper lounges, a sauna and steam room and whirpool Then there is the indoor heated pool and 2 level waterfall jacuzzis. Not to mention the outdoor infinity jacuzzi which, when the crisp air hits your face as the warm water envelops you, (not to mention the sounds of nature in the background) there is truly nothing like it. Enough about ambiance, let's get to the service. Collie provided my 50 min massage and extra foot rub. Let's just say that I started off with lower back pain and ended up feeling great. The bad part, I fell asleep at some point with is a testament to her abilities to relax someone!
The only negative is that they are doing some work on their outdoor trail which happens to be behind the outdoor jacuzzi so beware of contruction workers.

I went here for a business meeting, but had the opportunity to use the spa during some downtime. The facilities are all top notch. The food is great. The pool/water areas are wonderful.
Had a great massage by Tommy, and was great. He even noticed a area of concern that I had not even shared with anyone. A true professional who applied just the right amount of pressure.
The lounge areas and grounds are luxurious.

Prompted by the offering of two workshops with Jon Gordon (author "Soup"), I made my reservation. When we arrived the front desk staff provided us with our itinerary, a canvas bag with the Lodge logo and a water bottle. Having been to other resorts the room size and décor was an immediate disappointment. I enjoyed the spa amenities. The 75 minutes Delaware River Stone Massage was pleasant, but nothing special and at $185 it was overpriced.
The webpage suggested to make a dinner reservation and to plan at least 1 ½ hours. The menu included several appetizers and entrees. The waitress informed us we could choose as many appetizers as we wished and one entrée. Within 5 minutes the appetizers and the soup all arrived at once. We were still eating our appetizers when the entrees arrived. Everything we had was delicious and creatively prepared. A major downside was being rushed - from the time we were seated until finish it took 45 minutes.
Many of the staff seems to lack training to what I expect at a resort of this class. Everyone was very friendly, but the word "country bumpkin" comes to mind.
Having "The Lodge" at Turningstone in Verona almost in my backyard, I can't imagine I will take another trip to "The Lodge at Woodloch".

This was my first experience and a Destination spa and I could go on and on about all the things I loved. But for the most part the atmosphere and the rooms were so relaxing and I felt rejuvenated when I left. The food was great, you must try the cooking classes! We chose the spa because it was close to our grandchildren's camp as we had camp day that weekend. We were so pleasantly surprised! The service was fantastic. No matter what we asked for, the staff was happy to help. The food was excellent. The classes were great and the spa and treatments were very good. Our room was large and beautiful. Everything was clean and modern, but with that "lodge" decor. All in all, we enjoyed our stay immensely and would definitely go back. We have recommended it to all of our friends. By the way, we have traveled all over the world to 5 star hotels and we are very discriminating.

The facillities were nothing short of spectacular! We spent several days there during the day only to get spa services. Therefore the entire "experience" cannot be accounted for. The variety of services offered was fabulous(meaning the classes, activities and treatment variety). The service quality was inconsistent. The body treatments were outstanding but the salon services and facial of moderate standard. Classes great! When I return, I will limit my services to body treatments and classes.

The Lodge at Woodloch was everything and more. There is a ton of stuff to do and see. The facilities are beautiful, peaceful, and pleasant. The wait staff is like watching a dance they are so on key. The rooms are not rooms they are a home away from home. They clean your room twice a day which is great since you probably take two showers because of all the classes. The staff is helpful, pleasant and funny. I can't wait to go again.

My girlfriend & I, seasoned spa-goers, planned a week's stay at the Lodge at Woodloch. It had gotten such praise from spafinders's staff.
When we arrived at the spa, we were greated by a young woman who shouted, "Aren't ya psyched to be here!" We were taken to our rooms, and I felt I was in a refurbished Holiday Inn - sterile surroundings, and poorly decorated rooms with a view of the parking lot. Dinner was another unexpected experience. Servers walked around & served with one arm behind their back. We were told several times to limit our selections to one item from each category - "starters" "opportunities" and the entree. The food was well prepared and tasty, but the staff's affectation made the experience unpleasant. No pool to speak of, a puddle for kayaking, YMCA-type locker rooms and cramped common areas capped our disappointment - we left the next day. As my girlfriend said, "Someone with really bad taste spent alot of money on this place."

I go to spas on a regular basis, the Golden Door is my favorite. The facilities are nice, the rooms are nice, no soaking tubs, not so nice at a spa. We ran into difficulty from the moment we were shown to our room. It had a view of the parking lot and a truck was entering the property. I asked for a room change and was told there was not another 2 bed room available. After much discussion, there was another room available and we were moved. Not a good way to start off a spa vacation. I just feel there should be no unpleasantness at a top notch spa. The weekend progressed in a similar manner, you could get what you wanted if you were willing to fight for it. One note I must impart, I went to a pilates mat class on Sunday which I found to be very dangerous--too many people in a small space with little or no supervision of the class. If I hadn't been taking pilates for years, I would not have known what to do. As a matter of act, the instructor was very vague with instruction and never walked around or checked to see if you were in the right postures, and there were people in the class who had never done pilates before. The spa facilities were beautiful and I loved the waterfalls, also, went geocashing and that was great. You really need to impove the demeanor of the people who have direct customer contact. The exerience is very uneven and not at a good comfort level.

The Lodge at Woodloch is a beautiful getaway in the mountains. The accomodations were modern and comfortable, and the food was spectacular. I took advantage of all the fitness classes and the hiking opportunities, and I was very pleased with the variety of options available. I was surprised to see how empty the facilities were, but the private attention was a welcome surprise. I would definitely visit this spa again soon.

I came to this Spa for a bachelorette weekend, we did not stay at the spa we stayed at a condo in Woodloch. The spa was amazing! Nice and big, great facilities, great attention to detail, I could have stayed there all day! There were many options indoor and outdoor, the facilities in the locker room were fantastic! The Eucalyptus steam room was amazing!!! I had a swedish massage and it was fantastic, semi painful because of how tense I was but totally worth it, you can spend time inside or outside afterwards in the gorgeous pool and massage whirlpool, or the infinity pool outside overlooking into the woods. The only downfall is that it is so expensive to say at the Spa!
I will definitely be back!

I have been to many spas and I have to say this place is amazing. I loved the waterfall massage and the outdoor infinity jacuzzi. The only problem I see is that it is too much like an asembly line. I had requested a Deep Tissue massage (50 minutes I think). The first 5 minutes were spent selecting the aromatherapy oil I wanted and areas to focus on. I explained to the male massuese that I have had many deep tissue massages and needed some intense therapy. Well I kept waiting and waiting for him to get to it and he never did provide any deep tissue massage. I even mentioned to him don't worry about hurting me I like it deep. Well, I checked the clock when I went into the room and he turned it away from me during the treatment. When we were finished I turned it around and was shocked to see that he only gave me 40 minutes of massage. For $120+ that is not worth it! The place seems too intent on making money and not on making customers happy. It seems like the thereapists are all kids from the area. And not trained properly or very savvy with high end client's needs. I was so angry after my massage! Who needs that! I wanted to be relaxed not aggravated. I complained to the mgt. and they gave me a free reflexology treatment (15 mintues).
I have been to this spa twice and both times have not been satisified. I have felt rushed and not like I was getting the full value. Again, I have been to many spas and have never felt this way. The only thing the place has going for it is the setting and food on the buffet was yummy.

Spa Overview:
The Lodge at Woodloch is a luxury destination spa in the lakes region of Northeast Pennsylvania. The Lodge is the vision and reality of John and Ginny Lopis, a husband and wife team who are noted in the spa industry for spa design, development and management.
Reception:
The front desk, located at the Spa's entrance, is spacious and was empty each time we passed through. The receptionists were casual, yet professional and incredibly warm. The furnishings reflect the same oversized and casual feel of the rest of the resort - a sort of casual, yet upscale country club. We were signed in and on our way to the women's retreat in no time, led by a friendly spa attendant who promptly gave us a tour, spa sandals and assigned us to a locker which was already stocked with a robe.
Bathrooms/Changing Area:
Large locker room with keyless entry wooden lockers. There were 10 private shower rooms with their own changing area and vanity, each stocked with towels, bath mats, and shampoo, conditioner and shower gel. Shower caps, razors and feminine hygiene products were readily available in the general locker room area. Products used throughout the spa were Gilchrist & Soames Essentiel Elements Wake Up Rosemary. Everything from the hand soap to the lotion to the shower products was an invigorating blend of rosemary and mint. The area was super clean and spacious.
Treatment Rooms:
Minimally decorated rooms are average size and painted in light colors. Many of the treatment rooms had in-room showers. There are no windows in any of the treatment rooms that I saw. The salon had windows with great views. The treatment rooms were clean. Guests can choose from 5 soundtracks of music.
Amenities:
Cucumber and lemon infused water. Mighty Leaf hot teas. Fresh fruit. Trail mix with nuts, seeds and dried fruit. Bottled orange and apple juice. The hot and boiling water for the tea dispenses directly from the faucet.
Other Spa Facilities:
The best part about the spa: the Aqua Garden, Sun Terrace, and outdoor horizon-edge whirlpool.
The Aqua Garden is a co-ed indoor pool area that can be used for swimming but is also the location of the water classes. This area also features two massaging waterfall whirlpools - one at a 6 height of 6 feet (harsh and surprisingly windy) and one at a height of 3 feet (perfect, I could have stayed there all day).
Just outside the Aqua Garden is the sun terrace. A beautiful, natural setting with lounge chairs, radiant heated concrete floors and umbrella tables. I sat out there one morning and counted the squirrels and chipmunks that came within a few feet of my chair. This is also the location of the horizon-edge whirlpool - the water seems to flow over the edge and into the landscaping below.
In the women's sanctuary, there is a eucalyptus steam room, a dry sauna and a whirlpool, all with views of the outdoors. A screened-in relaxation porch with lounge chairs is the perfect place to curl up with a good book before or after a treatment.
After your treatment, your therapist leads you to the co-ed Whisper Lounge on the first floor of the spa. This is where all of the treatment rooms are located. There is a tea bar, lounge chairs facing a wall of windows, a fireplace, magazines and blankets to warm up under. The best part? Doors leading to an outdoor area with rocking chairs facing the forested area behind the lodge. We encountered one small problem: we got locked out of the Whisper Quiet lounge when we went outside to the porch. Fortunately, a maintenance worker let us back in and we didn't have to walk around the outside of the lodge in our robes and slippers.
There is a fully equipped fitness center and 3 studios for body classes. The entire area was clean and well maintained. We had a little trouble finding the fitness center, which is located upstairs from the main spa. This seemed a little disjointed and a bit of a distance away from the locker rooms and other spa facilities.
Deals:
No deals were offered on spa treatments, but we took advantage of a Midweek Magic deal and a lodge credit promotion where guests staying before 5/31/09 were entitled to $50/person/night in Lodge credits that could be used toward spa treatments and other purchases at The Lodge.
Treatments:
My first treatment was a Natural Sage Gommage. Here is the treatment description from the website:
Dry Brush, Polish, Moisturizer.
Gentle but invigorating, dry brushing fosters the perfect conditions for the massage application of warm Seaweed Rebalancing Serum. Concentrated algae extracts remineralize, detoxify and rebalance. Freshly powdered sage is applied in gommage fashion to further exfoliate your skin. The warmth of sage-infused towels and the massage application of antioxidant body lotion will leave you feeling cleansed, vibrant and oh so soft.
50 minutes $120
Loved this treatment! The dry brushing was a new experience that I'd been curious about. It doesn't hurt, but it is slightly abrasive and very invigorating. The "gommage" was also new to me. My therapist, Sherie, crumbled sage over me, and then rubbed it over my skin. She removed the exfoliant using warm towels that had been soaking in sage oil. The smell of the fresh sage combined with the sage towels was heavenly. Only a more thorough full body massage would have made this treatment more heavenly.
For my second treatment, I had the Lodge's signature Awakening the Senses Facial. Here is the treatment brochure description:
Experience the synergy of our signature facial, as aromatherapy, chromatherapy (color therapy), healing sound, choreographed two-disc stone massage and delightful flavors blend with profoundly effective skin care. Designed to increase the skin's capacity to function more efficiently, a gentle marine peel, age-defying complex serum and two nutrient-rich masks restore the skin and promote moisture balance, tone and clarity. A facial experience you will long remember! For all skin types. 75 minutes, $175
The treatment name and description sure did sound interesting, so here is the reality of the treatment. For the aromatherapy, I was given a choice of two massage oil blends to be used during the facial massage portion of my treatment.
For the chromatherapy, Danielle had 6 colored fabric discs arranged on the treatment bed when I entered the room. She asked me to choose a color - I choose purple. She read a description of what the color purple signifies (creativity, for one). She then told me that we would bathe the room in my color choice. The fabric disc was placed over a light, but it really just made the room darker and not bathed in purple.
For healing sound, I could choose among the 5 tracks of recorded music according to my preference. I chose traditional spa music. My therapist, Danielle, told me that there used to be a CD associated with this treatment.
The choreographed two-disc stone massage was a facial massage using the aromatherapy oil and two small discs with the centers cut out. Danielle massaged my face using the oil and the stones. It felt nice - but I wondered if so much oil on my face would negate the effects of the facial.
The delightful flavor was a wrapped chocolate covered strawberry. This was certainly a welcome treat that completed all the senses, but there was also a tray of chocolate covered strawberries in our room upon arrival.
Overall, the treatment was a little hokey. I left feeling it wasn't a great value and that the components didn't really add up to my senses being awakened. I can't say that my skin has shown any improvement in the days post-facial.
My mom had two treatments also: A European Deep Cleansing Facial ($120, 50 minutes) and a pedicure ($85, 50 minutes). Her opinion? Both treatments weren't as enjoyable as the facials and pedicures she receives at less expensive local day spas back at home. Certain components of these basic treatments seemed to be missing.
At checkout time, the hotel front desk staff asked how we enjoyed our stay. Sincere and honest feedback is important to me. I filled out a comment card indicating my thoughts on the treatments and on the value of the treatments and told the front desk staff that there were a few things that I mentioned in my comment card. They assured me that they would share this feedback with the owners and with the departmental staff.
Cuisine:
At a destination spa, meals are typically included in your package. The Lodge at Woodloch is no exception. The Intro to Spa Package and the Complete Spa Package include 3 meals daily, plus snacks from the tea bars located in the spa and near the front desk. Dinner on the day of your arrival, plus breakfast and lunch on the day of your departure is included. Since we planned to leave at lunchtime the next day, the front desk staff suggested that we substitute our departure day lunch with our arrival day lunch. It was a Sunday, so the dining room (Tree) was comfortably occupied with guests who had spent the weekend and were checking out.
We were offered menus with 2 appetizer choices, 2 entrée choices (Bison Burgers and Veggie Burgers), 2 juice blend choices and 3 smoothie choices. We also learned that we could help ourselves to the buffet instead of ordering off the menu. We checked out the buffet and opted for that instead of ordering off the menu. There was a printed menu of items on the buffet, but most individual items weren't labeled and some could not be identified. There were a number of salads, a salmon wrap, soup, vegetables and very small portions of desert - chocolate mousse in a shot glass and single bites of cake. I went to the Lodge with high hopes since I was on vacation with my sister and treating her and myself to massages. What a nightmare! While the facilities are lovely, and the staff helpful for the most part, the masseuse I worked with injured me to the point that for the next few days my neck was in terrible, throbbing pain. During the massage, with no warning, she quickly twisted my neck from side to side--something that I have never experienced with any other masseuse. I let a manager know and even contacted the owner, who told me that they had had complaints before about this technician! If that is the case, why let her work on others? Instead of a refund, I was given a gift certificate for another massage--but who would run the risk of that after such an experience. They should have offered me a spa credit so that I could use the funds as I saw fit, and not take another chance with my neck. I am not satisfied with the outcome, and would not recommend the spa due to this experience.

After a short 2.5 hrs Bus Trip, I got pickup at the station by the very friendly staff at Woodloch (sorry I didn't pickup your name)... Everthing else from that point on was stress free and unforgettable. The place was tucked away in the mountains and it was peacful and scenic (Actually... no blackberry reception if you are on T-Mobile ~ YES!!)
I came by myself and like many reviewers, I don't feel I missed anything. Classes are thoughtfully placed; you'll find a good variety of hardcore fitness bootcamp type class, challenging and it is great that they don't give "spa" style classes, but in between they have mindful / spritual classes, such as Yoga for Restful Sleep, Walking Meditation, Tai Chi to balance your day out. My favorite was the drawing classes. The instructor, John, he kept the technique simple and effective. If you didn't believe you have the talent in you, you'll discover it by the end of the class.
The owners are great, they made every effort to make their guest feels like they are on top of the world. More so, the staff all has good thing to say about the place and their employer. There is defintely a difference you can see in a place like this where the owner & employee take sjoy & pride of what they do here.
I love my experience and I can only summarize it by Woodloach is just a place that's "easy to love and enjoy". Take a moment for yourself or with a love one. Discover new things and just learn to relax and live in the moment. New Yorkers, you know what I'm talking about!

This place has no soul – while pretending to be a meditative and spiritual destination - you are welcomed with chakra crystal bells. The rooms are a step above Holiday Inn! The treatments were mediocre, I tried few massage therapists and they all had the exact same movements – I guess they had one training teacher ….
The food was OK – but was repetitive each day and the wine list was basic at best.
The service was very automatic, everybody greets you the same way with the same facial expressions.
All in all it was very expensive and disappointing.
P.S. I visited more the few dozen spas all over the world – and this was my worst experience ever.

The moment you arrive, the staff makes you feel like the most important person. Everything that they can do for you is paramount.
John and Ginny welcome you as their personal guests. The term "lodge" is used specifically. It is as if you have been invited to their personal home and they want to to feel welcome.
The facilities are superb. Absolutely gorgeous and impeccably maintained. The outside jacuzzi with snow falling was our favorite part. I'm not sure what the mattress and pillows were made of, but I did not snore or did not snore loudly enough for me to wake up my wife. That was worth the price. The toiletries are fantastic. Something I never notice in other facilties.
My wife is very specific about food, and the food was excellent. My only issue with the place was asking at every meal, if meal choices were vegan. It was not apparent on the menu. On the other hand, almost everything we asked about was vegan. The chef made special desserts for us.
We saw the feng shui presentor, who was very good and very informative. Although we heard that the herbalist was better. He must be really amazing because we learned a lot from the feng shui lady. We met one fellow who had a nutrition consultation and said it was a "fun learning experience. I thought she would be on my case. But she explained everything and wanted to know what I thought. I think I can actually do what we talked about."
We are lucky this spa is on the East Coast and near us. I have stayed at other spas and have had spa services, but not in the recent past, thus my answer to "How regularly do you seek spa treatments?" I thought "several times a year" was misleading for me during the last 2 or 3 years. I rarely have time to visit spas.
We definitely look forward to returning as least every year.

I read the rviews and decided to try Woodloch rather than return to old favorites. It boasted a wide selection of fitness classes. The classes were few and not at all challenging. A spin class that we were looking forward to was a disaster. Our instructor wasn't certified and had never been on the bikes before.Twenty minutes into the class she canceled it saying she was afraid someone might get hurt because there was a problem with the "new" bikes. The class was not offered the rest of the weekend.
We were told the Lodge was very busy at 60% occupanc!y! Services were impossible to get other than any booked in advance, We were told this was becuse a large number of people come as a day spa. What about priority for guests that paid premium prices!!! Restaurant service was also fair especially for Sunday breakfast.The food was beautifully presented . However,there was not a great selection and the buffets were dismal in terms of size and selection. No opportunity for healthy snacks in between other than tea, coffee, water, fruit, nuts and tiny canapes at 3:00

Just came back froim a two day stay. Unbelievable service, the staff was extremely professiona. They couldn't do enough for you. Iit was relaxing, rewarding. The facial was great. Also tried Shiatsu for the first time and enjoyed it. Very relaxing We had beautiful weather and the outdoor sundeck was very nice to use while waiting for your treatments. The beds were very comfortable. Our room overlooked the waterfall and had a very nice sized balcony. At breakfat and luch they have a small buffet along with a menu that you could order omlets or poached eggs from in the morning. At luch, another small buffet along with a menu that you could order from and yougurt smoothies we offered at all meals. I believe there were 4 different varieties. At dinner there were about 4 selections to choose from. At first you think the portions are small, but you do get fillled up. Besides, if you want something else, all you have to do is ask for it. In the spa and in the lobby there are tea/jucie/water bars that you can utilize and in the afternoon they put out small cananpes at the lobby one to eat if you choose. In the spa and up stairs in the workout areas, they have bowls of fruit too. The power yoga class was great and so was the ultimate abs and x-biking. Can't wait to go back. Definetley check this site for specials and deals.

Everything at the resort spa is so well-thought out! Behind the design must have been a huge amount of attention to detail. The food was fantastic – both healthy and tasty. They offer plenty of fitness classes that are suited to all types, from gentle yoga to hardcore cardio and resistance training. The accommodations were truly top rate. The spa had lots of treatments available, from massage to facials to body treatments (wraps, mineral treatments). They also had great fitness facilities, including an excellent gym, a pool, an outdoor hot tub. Both ladies and men’s side of the spa had steam room, sauna, whirlpool, etc. They also have outdoor activities that were fun: a path through the forest, morning hikes, and kayaking. If there was anything to “complain” about, it is only that the spa and fitness center closes at 7:30 pm: the outdoor whirlpool cries out for a dip before bedtime. Other than that, this spa is perfect!

I recently spent 4 nights/5 days at Woodloch. The facility is beautiful and very well maintained. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Having a daily spa allowance is great and allowed me to try some things that I might not have otherwise. As others have noted the owners, John and Ginny make a point of knowing the guests. They are always around and interested in hearing about your experience (even when some of the feedback was less than positive).
Pros: clean, never feels crowded or rushed, very welcoming atmosphere, the locker/changing rooms are fabulous - the lodge rooms as superb also. The locker/changing rooms with private shower changing areas and inviting relaxation areas A++++.
John and Ginny addressed a concern I had with one spa treatment and generously provided a gift certificate for future treatments at the facility to make up for one less than great experience.
I have been to many of the top spas in the US and this is certainly among my very favorites - but having said that, there are some areas where if addressed will make this facility the "best of the best". These items are what kept them from having straight 5's across the board:
1. Experience and professionalism of spa staff is mixed. I had a surperb facialist but only mediocre Reiki - I don't think the therapist was truly skilled in Reiki and my opinion is that either you have the gift for this or you don't......don't offer the service if you don't have skilled staff to provide it. I had another therapist for two concurrent services who was the most unprofessional I had ever experienced. However, my husband had another therapist for the same treatment and his was superb.
2. Aqua Garden had dead flies floating in the waterfall hot tubs. Not very pleasant and surprising given the overall cleanliness of the facility. It did turn me off from using that part of the facility.
3. Restaurant food was for the most part very good and actually had my husband enjoying "spa food". However, again....experienced some kind of insect problem. One day there were swarms of fruit flies around the deserts at the buffet. Staff sometimes overly solicitous. Mark was the exception to that and among the best waiters I've ever had - they should make sure they keep him and let everyone learn from his example.
4. WATER...please? Bottled water was nearly impossible to get. None in the spa area and 1 bottle per guest was provided in the room at check in. This was not even available for purchase (we asked). For this price point and at a spa I am accustomed to having bottled water readily available. (It was only available warm in the gym area and you would only know that if you happened to go up there to work out).
5. Pillows - soft or softer. Again at this price point there should be a selection of soft or firm pillows in addition to the feather or foam selections. Most side sleepers prefer a firmer pillow and there were none to be had (believe me, I tried).
Having said all of this I would encourage anyone considering Woodloch to check it out. It has great potential and as a newer facility I expect they will continue to work out the kinks.

I had the best hot stone massage in my life! Wonderful facilities, fantastic spa food(you won't be hungry), so many activities await you. Accomodations are deluxe and the staff so friendly and .helpful. The owners are there everyday and always come by at dinner to check on you. This is not a resort, but a truly unique and upscale spa experience.
Staff is new, but in 3 months will be well-seasoned. Recommend as a get-away alone or with friends.

Just returned from a wonderfully relaxing 5 night/4 day visit to the Lodge at Woodloch. Why fly to some far-away spa destination when we can drive to this place.
Truly a little piece of heaven on earth!! I have frequented many different spas and they never quite lived up to the advertisements. This place has taken spa to a whole new level. The attention to detail is quite apparent no matter where you go in the lodge.
The spa treatments were absolutely super!! Check out the Lavender Dream and be sure to ask for Liz although all the therapists are good. All the treatment rooms are located on the lower level of the spa away from the noise. This sounds like a no brainer but I did visit a spa in Canada where the treatment rooms were situated over the kitchen and you could hear the staff coming and going with the dishes during your treatment.
The pedicure room is quiet and overlooks the woods. All the tools are brand new and you get to keep your files and buffers when you leave.
I can't say enough good things about this place. It was an extremely relaxing spa vacation and easy getaway from the tri-state area.
I will definitely be back.

Just returned from a wonderful trip to the lodge and I thoroughly enjoyed it! I went by myself and didn't miss anyone!! :o) The staff is wonderful, friendly, professional and warm. The lodge itself is beautifully decorated, lots of warm wood tones and muted colors. It was unseasonably cold during my stay and there was a crackling fire in almost every public room where you could sit quietly and read for hours in your robe and slippers. The treatment rooms were comfortable and the technicians friendly and knowledgeable. I especially loved the lodge facial, I didn't want it to end! I had at least 2 naps by the fire (blankets also available) in the Whisper Lounge where you go after your treatments - it was my favorite room in the lodge. Granola, fresh fruit, herbal tea and a good book...view of the lake...aaahhhh....
The food was well-presented and delicious and there was a nice amount of variety on the menu. At night there are local musicians who come in to play guitar and sing. They are quite good.
Accomodations are comfortable...pillowtop mattress, your own private veranda with screened windows that open, flat screen television and DVD player. The television also receives 4 or 5 XM radio stations, and once I came back to my room and housekeeping had left some classical music playing for me, along with the turndown service - nice touch. As has been said before, you can rent movies from the front desk but the selection isn't that great. I would have liked a tad more pressure in the shower. Loved the rosemary scented soaps and lotions provided!
One other small negative for me was the lack of planned activity on the schedule that did not involve a "work out". My purpose for going to the lodge was to relax and release tension, and to do a bit of meditation as well, but it seemed that most of the activities were more geared to those who wanted to be more active. There was a cooking demo, and two or three other "meditation" activities, but that was it. There are no planned activities at all after dinner.
All in all, I had a fabulous retreat, and I cannot wait to go back! (Next time I'll bring my husband...)

All the superlatives in the English language could not possibly do justice to this wondrous place. My husband and I visited the Lodge over Christmas week, where we were told the lodge was at capacity â?? the wonderful thing was that at no time did you ever feel like you were falling over people, in fact it didnâ??t seem â??busyâ?? at all. Other great pluses for truly relaxing are their â??no cell phoneâ?? (except for in your room â?? if you get a signal) and â??no childrenâ?? policies.
Everything about this establishment is understated elegance. The décor, whilst definitely â??lodge-likeâ??, is beautifully done and enhances the overall ambience very nicely.
Accommodations: We had a â??standardâ?? room which was a very nice size, elegantly decorated with a view of the woods and the lake. Large flat screen TV (with built-in DVD player), very comfortable sitting area and wireless internet (free and fast) were all good things. The bathroom was also quite nice (no tub though â?? which was fine as we spent many hours soaking ourselves in the various jacuzziâ??s around the facility) with travertine marble and granite abounding. Products were also nice and of good quality.
Food: Here is one of the great wonders of the lodge â?? the food is quite simply outstanding. Not being a terribly health conscious person when it comes to food, I am always a little apprehensive of â??spa cuisineâ??, but this is far from granola and cardboard. Duck, lobster, scallops, cookies, chocolateâ?¦ and itâ??s all outstanding and plentiful, but cooked in creative ways that makes it healthy. Breakfast and lunch are both buffet, but one may also order from the menu. Wine is available at lunch and dinner, and it doesnâ??t have to cost the earth â?? they have wonderful wines at various prices (alcohol is the only thing not included in the room rate). Coffee: weâ??re quite selective when it comes to our coffee, and this is some of the best restaurant coffee weâ??ve ever come across â?? a refreshing change!
Service: The staff were all very well trained, well spoken and very friendly.
Spa: Treatments and therapists are excellent. The shower/locker-room areas are kept meticulously clean by the very helpful attendants. The pools/jacuzziâ??s/waterfall hydro-therapy areas are fabulous. We did not partake of the fitness classes or the fitness center, but the machines looked brand new and in good order. There are also many classes that one can partake of many of which seemed interesting, but the only one we did during our time there was the cooking class with the Lodgeâ??s Executive Chef, Lyle. Great fun.
The owners, John and Ginny Lopis, are most gracious hosts and are delightful. They are frequently in the restaurant during lunch and dinner and will stop by to speak with you.
They have created a wondrous place that we will be returning to as soon as possible.

This is the perfect spa for total relaxation and tranquility. The service is superb, the facility is beautiful and the experience was A++. There is something for everyone. You can relax by the fire, have a facial, visit the fitness center or take a hike - you can do it all. We most enjoyed the aqua garden with two whirlpools with waterfalls. The outside whirlpool overlooking the lake is also quite esquisite in the early morning or late evening. The Lodge at Woodloch gave us a great spa experience and we can not wait to visit again!

The spa is an excellent choice for those of us on the East coast looking for a high quality, full service destination spa. The entire property is beautiful and the spa facility itself is extremely well done! While only there for 2 nights and 3 days, I was able to quickly relax and enjoy every minute of my stay.
What works: Everything in the spa facility: the locker rooms, complete with wet and dry saunas, whirlpool, a screened in porch, beautiful individualized shower/change rooms (the best I've ever seen), the aqua area - indoor and out is just magnificent (especially the high powered waterfall and the outdoor whirlpool). My personal favorite is the Whisper room, which is a beautiful relaxation room with chaise lounges, gas fireplace, a view of the lake and the best trail mix I've ever tasted. The treatments were fantastic. My friend and I shared a body scrub that made my skin feel like a baby for weeks afterwards.
Areas for improvement: Scheduling the spa appointments is a MUST very early in advance. There is very little room for flexibility once you arrive. It also takes longer to get there than the website suggests. From NYC, please allow at least 2.5 hours by car. The option to have wine is great but it is expensive and the room service charge borders on usury. I suggest bringing your own. Lastly, the fitness facility is good but not state of the art. It is also seems less of an area of focus. However, I think a greater link of fitness and spa would round out the offering and allow a more holistic experience for those who are staying for multiple nights.
But let me not nitpick. I loved this spa and know I will return for another visit in the not-too-distant future. This is a wonderful East Coast option and I'm extremely excited to have discovered it!

After being shown a spacious, well appointed room overlooking a
waterfall, we were given a friendly, informative tour of the facility.
Spotless, magnificent sauna, steam, indoor and outdoor whirlpools,
delightful indoor swimming pool complete with massaging waterfall
whirlpools created an instantly calming environment. By dinner we
were well on our way to our four day relaxation retreat. Meals
were superb. Chef Lyle was glad to share his philosophy in cooking
demos. And server Mark was outstanding.
My niece received her first reiki treatment and was astounded at its depth of healing power. I had a great cranio-sacral treatment and hot stone massage. Reflexology was also a powerful high point.
The library does not have enough books yet. Bring your own DVD's as their movie selection is not yet developed. There could be better hiking trails and it would be nice if kayaking were available at the magnificent closeby lake. Since the spa is so new, landscaping is still a work in progress. Exercise facilities however were complete and lovely. Staff was very helpful.
Inner smile class was something I will take with me always.
Owners Ginny and John Lopis knew each guest by name. They frequently stopped to chat with us. We firmly believe that their dream
of creating a space for interesting people to surround themselves with
healing, collective energy has become a rewarding reality;for them as
well as their guests...if you build it they will come.

The facility is beautiful. I did not stay there so cant speak about the rooms but the Spa facility is top notch. If you are vacationing at Woodloch Pines it should not be missed

From the moment you walk into this magnificent facility, you feel as though you are the personal guest of each and every member of the wonderfully attentive staff. Every moment of our 4 day stay was blissfully relaxing. We sampled several different spa treatments and each as more wonderful than the one before. (Try the "awakening the senses" facial--I have never had a better treatment!) The facility itself is spectacular, from the state of the art gym to the beautiful, spacious rooms. The food was fabulous--it was hard to believe that we were not at a 5 star restaurant in a big city!!! We will definitely be back, but are worried that once the word gets out, we'll have to reserve months in advance! This is a definite winner!
