About Masseria San Domenico
The breathtaking Masseria San Domenico is designed to satisfy even the most demanding traveler. The Moorish-inspired, boutique-style resort and spa features whitewashed fifteenth-century structures surrounded by olive groves. Guests seeking seaside luxury will find a private beach stretching along the coast approximately 1,600 feet from the large stone building. The in-house Mediterranean-themed Spa and Thalasso Centre, which has 22 treatment rooms, incorporates oceanic elements by specializing in thalassotherapy, or treatments that use seawater.
Making full use of the landscape, the resort boasts a scenic 18-hole golf course, a free-form saltwater swimming pool and two tennis courts. Inside the stone rooms and arched corridors lie a handful of dining options and 47 guest rooms and suites.
The resort is open March through December.

Spa Talasso's sparkling seawater treatment pool sits under a vaulted ceiling of glass. It is here that visitors may experience thalassotherapy services, which are performed in the pool or in one of the spa's 22 treatment rooms. The mineral-rich water is used in massages, muscle treatments performed by underwater jets (as in the Thalgo Jet Massage), and skin-purifying services, often in combination with seaweed or other underwater elements.
A well-appointed fitness center is also available in the approximately 7,500-square-foot tranquil spa, which is decorated in a minimalist Mediterranean style, as are a sauna and a steam room. Personal training and yoga classes are available upon request. Besides thalassotherapy, more traditional treatments are on offer, such as massages and beautifying rituals from around the world. One of the most enticing indulgences is the Olive Oil Envelopment in Aromatherapy. In this full-body and facial service, the skin is scrubbed then massaged with olive oil blended with herbs and aromatic ingredients. In fact, the spa uses and sells its own line of products that contain olive oil extracted from the trees on the estate.

Rooms & Dining
The 45 guest rooms and suites of Masseria San Domenico are fashioned with charming Italian countryside décor, pulling from a palate of jewel tones and whites. The spacious rooms come equipped with all the standard home-away-from-home essentials, including an Internet connection, and offer views of the surrounding olive groves.
The buffet breakfast, which can be eaten indoors or on one of the stunning patios, is available to all guests. For lunch, many guests relish the chance to dine poolside, where an outdoor buffet is prepared. During the day and evening, the lauded San Domenico restaurant serves regional specialties accompanied by a wide selection of local wines. Much of the olive oil and produce used in the kitchen are grown on Masseria San Domenico's land, and fresh fish and shellfish come from the nearby Adriatic coast. Low-calorie menus are available for lunch and dinner, and there is always a vegetarian option included on the menu. The Italianate restaurant is housed in an atmospheric vaulted dining room dating back to the 1700s.

Activities
It's tempting to stay on the grounds of the Masseria San Domenico: The deluxe 72-par golf course, luxurious saltwater swimming pool, tennis courts, and stretches of beach and olive groves provide scenic diversions and quiet sanctuary. But an impressive list of historic cathedrals, castles, and museums renowned in Italy's Puglia region are just outside the resort's perimeter.
In nearby Brindisi, visitors can walk through the archaeological museum or view an ancient set of Roman columns. Close to Fasano, another of the area's whitewashed towns, cave dwellings have been found. Near the town of Bari sits the medieval Castel del Monte, which was erected by Emperor Frederick in the thirteenth century. Horseback riding, clay pigeon shooting, and scuba diving are also available nearby.
