    Against a backdrop of cedar, birch, and pine trees, rolling meadows, and streams, sits Spa Eastman, Canada's first destination spa. Set in the shadows of Mount Orford and affording wide views of the picturesque countryside, the hotel's location will make guests feel like they have stepped inside a landscape painting during their stay. Spa Eastman prides itself on its personalized care for body and mind, as well as invigorating activities that allow maximum relaxation. The facility's 46 rooms are located in seven pavilions spread out over 326 acres of land, creating intimate lodgings with interiors that range from simple to luxurious. Spa Eastman also received many awards and recognition for the excellence of its environmental practices.

    A new area called Eastman-les-Bains is now dedicated to balneotherapy. It includes two hammams, two outdoor hot tubs, a polar bath, a Kneipp bath, a Kneipp arm and leg circuit, and indoor and outdoor pools, as well as an ecological swimming pond that is open year round.

Spa Eastman believes that attending to the body means connecting with the spirit. Soft background music, private treatment rooms and soothing light-colored walls help relax guests as they ease their way into the spa experience. Body and massage treatments include exfoliation, wraps and extensive hydrotherapy options, while beauty treatments include hand, nail, feet and back treatments, as well as facials. A naturopath can suggest a tonic or grape cure to detoxify the body or help clients develop new eating habits. Spa specialists can tailor individual weight management plans, offer fitness consultations, and guide personal training sessions.

Spa Eastman invites guests to "take the waters" the European way and learn more about the benefits of alternating hot and cold on one’s overall health with the Kneipp approach, among others. Hammam sessions and dips in the frozen pond are part of Spa Eastman’s regular programming, and workshops and information sessions provide a framework for the use of the baths so that customers get the most therapeutic benefit from heat therapy in a safe, respectful and calm setting.

Having been to many spas in Quebec, i finally decided to try Spa Eastman and what a revelation it was! The grounds are beautiful, as are the facilities. The staff is friendly and helpful. Food is healthy. The price quality ratio is excellent. My only disapointment was the day I had booked a facial with a mani, pedi, the therapist called in sick and I was only able to obtain one of the three treatments. The most heavenly treatment I have ever had is the one called between heaven and earth ( entre ciel et terre in french). It is a foot reflexology treatment combined with a scalp massage using jojoba oil. Truly a relaxing and amazing experience. The reflexology treatment was the best I have ever had. I will most definitely go back specially for between heaven and earth. Have recommended it to many people.

A little bit of heaven in the Canadian woods

This spa is a real value. Prices are great for what they offer. The serene environment is uninterrupted by phones, TVs, or internet. The property is lovely with lawn chairs sprinkled about the grounds for a quiet place to sit and read or just relax and enjoy nature. The rooms are nice and varied depending on whether you choose the main lodge or one of the outlying buildings. Food is both very healthful and delicious. Attention to preparation pays off here. Wine is available. The staff is very good, especially in the dining room, and they speak English although most of the programs are presented in French only. I opted for the English movie in the evening instead and reading both the book I brought and some of the English ones I found in the comfortable living room of the Maison Canadienne where I was lodged. Treatments and classes were mostly good. I was disappointed in the yoga class, but enjoyed the Aqua Aerobics and some of the other exercise classes given bilingually. Massages were mostly good--some therapists are better than others--and the skin treatments were very nice. the locker room at the spa is a little lacking in ambiance and facilities--a distinct lack of chairs or benches. And it was too dark. Other than that, I loved the place and would definitely go back.

Great scenic area just east of Montreal. Nice drive from the airport or about a 5 to 6 hour drive from NY City. Exchange rate makes this a good deal for the rooms and treatments. Rooms include 3 meals a day and fitness classes. Classes are mostly done in french and most guests speak french....not a problem if you are enjoying the spa with another person or relaxing on your own. Food is spa cuisine and does the job for a healthy retreat. Went for a hike in July and was mobbed by bugs down a trail in some wet areas. Guess that is part of the experience. Watsu treatment best I ever had, a must try. Spa treatments all pretty good and as I mentioned...a great value for US traveler. Staff is friendly and willing to please. Rooms are upgraded medium priced rooms some with fireplaces....comfortable and recommend you try to stay in the main building. If you have a car driving around the area is a treat as there are many sites, lakes and towns to see.
