Don't Waste Your Money on Grand Wailea Spa

I spent 3 hours and $400 on a massage, pedicure and shampoo/blowdry. Only the pedicure was satisfactory. The massage was described as 80 minutes, but was actually 50 min -and that was a pseudo massage with coconut shells. First 30 minutes were light brushing to "release lymph" with masseuse using small brush made of coconut fibers. Whole experience very disappointing - and spa is very overrated.

My fiancee and I visited the Grand Wailea Spa in March 2012 and we were blown away by the Spa facilities. We typically get a couples massage about once a month and the Grand Wailea's Spa is a reason alone to visit/return to the Grand Wailea; the surroundings and beauty of the Resort add to the outstanding experience. As long as this property remains both a Hilton Honors property and accepts SpaFinder certificates, we will return in 2013 as a paying stay, as part of our honeymoon in 2013!

The reservation was ok, I book the Facebook special, which I ask and was told it was their Signature massage. However, what I got was different (I had their Signature massage before). Check in was good. My spa attendant was excellent in explaining the terme room. However, my husband had different experience. The spa attendant did not explain the facility. He was almost sent upstairs without enjoying the terme, until somebody stopped him and told him that he can stay and enjoying the terme. Nobody told him or other people in the male room that they should not jump from one salt pool to another without rinsing. Several people did not know how to turn on the shower. The spa attendant was not around to assist. The massage was good, I just wish they told me what kind of massage because otherwise I would request something different. It was just different experience from the last time I had my massage. I think the room should be darker, the music should be quieter. I can also hear the luau music from outside.

This is what a spa should be. Great massage, and wonderful facilities. The Hydrothreapy Terme Baths, Waterfall Showers, Sauna, Steam, Whirlpool, Viche Shower, Cold Plunge and Wet room are all unbelievable! Huge space, and not a lot of people. Great service, and excellent therapists. The baths,Waterfall Showers, and whirlpool are out in the open and are clothing optional, with most opting for au natural. Yes, it's expensive, but you're in Maui. Do it, and worry about paying for it later.
A definite when visiting Maui!

I went to this spa when I was pregnant in my second trimester so was not able to use all the facilities to the full potential, however overall it is an excellent spa! There are several areas where you can relax and let your mind wander. The pregnancy massage was excellent, though I do not really care for coco butter. I have been looking for a similar spa to this, but it is very difficult and will definitely have to return to this spa and use all that it has to often after the baby is born!

I was married at the Grand Wailea back in 2005 and went to their spa the day before my wedding. Since then, I have been trying to find spas that compare to the Grand Wailea spa, and I haven't been able to do so. It is easily the best spa I've ever been to...the aroma baths, plundge pools, staff, atmosphere, facilities, water fall feature that massages your neck and back, sausa...it has every bell and whistle you could ever hope for in a spa. It's amazing and you won't be disappointed.

I just knew there would be some issue when I got there. it seemed way to good to be true. I used the special listed on this site and even had a coupon for a certificate. How could a world class spa get this inexpensive? There had to be a catch! But there wasn't! I got my full hour in the baths, a fabulous apricot scrub, a wonderful massage, and a tasty treat at the cafe! All for the price of my gift certificate! It even included gratuity!!! Wow. This was an amazing experience. I had to drive from the other side of the island and my husband had to wonder around by himself for 2 hours, but it was well worth it. I would definitely recommend this spa. It is unique and amazing.

I LOVE THIS SPA! It is hands down my favorite of all I have experienced. My first visit to Spa Grande was in 2009 when the girls and I spent a week at the Grande Wailea Resort in Maui. Every year (for the past eight years) we do a girl road trip..ok so we no longer drive! So, in May of 2010 we were headed for a week in Kauai, but we loved the Spa Grande so much that we made a stopover in Maui specifically to enjoy this spa again.

This spa is one of my very favorite, from the Terme baths and treatments, waterfall showers, local specialties to the ability to have some treatments outdoors enjoying the gorgeous surroundings. The atmosphere is stunning... with one exception... I found it lacking in serenity when the staff came out and yelled across the baths and facilities for the next person to have treatment. And I mean YELLED! Having been at another very tranquil spa before that, this was shocking! Aside from that, I can tell you I loved the treatment, service, and surroundings.

I must say I was somewhat disappointed, perhaps because I expected a lot from a Waldolf Asteria hotel/spa. It is supposed to be the best of the best, but it was really no better than most other spas. The service was acceptable vs outstanding. The facility, I must say, it had a lot to offer with it's 5 specialy treatment pools/baths, and surrond jet like showers, ice pool, and massage waterfall. The massage itself was average vs superb and the staff were accomodating but did not go above and beyond which is what I expected from such a spa. Perhaps my expectations were just too high.

I have been to the GW Salon several times and each time I go I always ask for Jeanene S. She is patient, a very good listener when I explain what I am looking for and an absolute magician with my hair cut, color and style. And she always explains how to easily repeat the style at home when she is not around. She has also done my hard-to-please teenage daughter's hair with great success and beautiful results.
I have also had her do my makeup for a special event and she did a wonderful job of applying makeup beatifully so that it looked light and natural. I only wish she worked on the Mainland and not Maui so I could see her more often. She is a treasure.

As soon as you walk into the calm serene of the spa @ Grand Wailea you immediately feel relaxed. From the vichy shower to the mud moor bath this spa really knows how to pamper its guests. Very spacious and helpful staff, you never feel rushed/hurried. Locker rooms immaculately maintained & the views of the hotel pool & pacific ocean can't be matched. Don't be surprised if you look up and see a celebrity or 2...awesome property, INCREDIBLE spa.
Negatives --- quite pricey so be prepared to spend for this pampering pleasure.

I had the works: terme baths, steam/sauna, aromatherapy bath soaks, 80 min. massage sampler, 1 hr. facial, spa lunch, spa mani/sport pedi, haircut/blowdry....eight hours spent in total and all worth it! The staff were very friendly and courteous, experienced. The spa was clean and amply stocked with amenities you need. Hands down one of the best spas I've experienced in Maui...

Our family staid in the resort for 3 weeks. There was not a boring day during the entire visit. From the pools, to the stroll through their awesome tropical grounds... but the WINNER in my book is the Spa Grande. WOW! From the moment you walk in you are embraced by classic charm and professionalism. From Terme pools to water fall showers and everything in between is a pure luxury served to on a silver platter. My only regret is we eventually had to return back to reality... but there are many nights a still dreaming of returning to Spa Grande and plunging back to their suiting, relaxing and mind healing experience.

The award winning Spa grande at the grand wailea truly offers an oasis of serenity and escape like they advertised!My kids had their first spa experience with the chocolate-coconut massages.We scheduled the family spa suite where all four of us were able to enjoy massages together!It was a memorable spa experience for the entire family.They offer my children spa robes made just for kids and they have an array of spa & salon services designed for kids & teens.
You do not have to stay in the resort to be able to participate in the Spa grande treatments.

The best part of this spa is the hydrotherapy Terme circuit. The complementary loofah exfoliation is a nice touch. This is a great spa for enjoying with friends, because it's so large. My lomi lomi massage was good, but not great, however every thing else makes up for it! My favorite part of the hydrotherapy is the green papaya exfoliating bath. Smells like heaven!

Kahului Airport is a thirty-minute ride by shuttle, taxi, or limousine to the resort.
There is no minimum age at the resort, but spa guests must be 6 or older to receive treatments. Guests must be 16 years old to use the Terme Wailea Hydrotherapy.
Facilities & Amenities
The water features are a main attraction of the resort. The
2,000-foot-long, 25,700-square-foot Wailea Canyon Activity Pool consists of nine free-form pools at six levels, from 40 feet to sea level. It includes waterfalls and slides, caves, rapids, a sand beach, three whirlpools, even a baby beach and infant pool, and more. The 4,850-square-foot Hibiscus pool, decorated with millions of pieces of tile, is for guests l8 and older. Ocean water sports are offered and boogie boards, kayaks, Hobie Cats, and snorkeling equipment can be rented.
Another major attraction is the Wailea Golf Club, which offers a choice of three championship courses: The Blue Course, designed by Arthur Jack Snyder, and
the Gold and Emerald Courses designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr.
Kids 5 to 12 will love Camp Grande, their own 20,000-square-foot mini-resort with a movie theatre, Nintendo game room, indoor play area, and more.
Grand Wailea's concierge can make arrangments for the following activities on Maui: snorkeling and kayaking, biking, and whale watching, as well as tennis and helicoper rides.

All 780 guest rooms and suites are especially spacious, with sizes from 640 square feet on up. Your room's private lanai (balcony) may overlook lush tropical gardens, Mount Haleakala, rows of striped cabanas, and the ocean beyond. Napua Tower is an exclusive private club area situated at the center of the hotel and featuring a dedicated concierge with upgraded guest room accommodations. For evening dining, you can visit the romantic, exotic oceanside Humuhumunukunukuapua'a (named for the state fish) that floats above a lagoon and features Polynesian- and Hawaiian-influenced meat and fish entrees. Or enjoy contemporary Japanese cuisine in a traditional Japanese setting at Kincha. Guests may breakfast at the Grand Dining Room, which offers a panoramic view of the pool, ocean, and nearby islands; enjoy casual California and island specialties at Bistro Molokini at lunch and dinner; dine on light fare at the Cafe Kula on the terrace; and enjoy salads and sandwiches for lunch at the poolside Volcano Bar.
