  • About Uhma Organic Spa & Green Shop

    Uhma, inspired by the word one (uma) in Portuguese, is an eco-friendly spa with green-friendly touches such as furniture made from sustainable materials and bamboo flooring. All three treatment rooms have their own shower using filtered water, locker room, eco-friendly bamboo towels and robes, and a music sound system. The wet room has a Vichy shower, a pipeless Jacuzzi with a moss garden, and river pebble floors. The spa's retail area carries natural and organic product lines as well as candles, gifts, and jewelry. Treatments include massage, body polishes and wraps, water therapies, botanic and ultrasound facials, manicures, and pedicures. Clients can also sample special services such as the Tian Di massage, which incorporates bamboo sticks or the Lava Shell massage, which features self-heated shells from the South Pacific.

Je vis en France et ai souhaité offrir à ma petite amie qui vit à Miami une matinée où elle serait cocoonée. Après avoir recherché différents spas par l'intermédiaire d'internet, j'ai découvert Uhma Organic Spa qui avait de bons commentaires et un excellent rapport qualité/prix. J'ai donc souhaité réserver, par téléphone, 90 minutes de massages. Au téléphone, cela s'est extrêmement bien passé ; j'ai eu comme contact Debora. Celle-ci a pris son temps pour m'expliquer plus en détail les différents types de massages qui étaient proposés, notamment ceux qui correspondaient à ma demande (mon choix final : le suédois). Aussi, après réservation, m'a-t-elle envoyé un courriel de confirmation. Enfin, concernant l'expérience, le retour de ma petite amie a été tout simplement excellent. Elle a passé un très très agréable moment. A son arrivée, l'équipe lui a offert un thé en même temps que lui étaient données à signer les différentes décharges (la signature de décharges aux Etats Unis est normal lorsque vous allez chez le médecin, le dentiste ou tout autre professionnel de santé). Ensuite, a-t-elle pu s'installer pour 90 min (complètes) de massages. Elle en est sortie super relaxée. Conclusion : Nous recommandons vivement ce spa.

This was my first spa experience and I'm mad because I've missed out on some great experiences. As soon as you walk in, you begin to feel relaxed. I suggest you have the relaxing tea that is suggested before you go back for your treatment, it's VERY good. The coconut scrub made my skin feel like silk and the vishy shower was awesome as well. my sabai massage made my joints, muscles and entire being just feel like heaven. Alex, I hope I have his name right, is the best! VERY professional and hands of magic!! Can't wait to make another trip to South Beach to come back to this spa!!

I popped in to on a Wednesday afternoon requesting a three-part service on Thursday (massage, facial and an enzyme body scrub/wrap). Seeing how hot I was, the spa owner, a lovely woman named Debora, immediately brought me a glass of water, then we talked. They had no facial appointments available for Thursday, but when Debora heard that it was my birthday, she texted one of her facialists to see if she would come in on her day off just for me - and she did! This was above and beyond the call of duty on both of their parts. Thank you, Chantel, and thank you, Debora! My facial was great, with some of the nicest products I've ever had used on me and a few little "extras" Chantel threw in because it was my birthday. Eric, who did my body treatment and massage, was also fantastic - highly skilled, responsive to my particular needs and requests and very comfortable to be around. Uhma makes many of its own body products, and everything they used on me was wonderful - my skin felt like butter afterward. In a thoughtful personal touch, having seen my sensitivity to heat and humidity, they also mixed a little peppermint product into the standard body scrub I had selected the day before to cool me down. The crowning moment, though, was when I reached the register to check out and discovered that Debora had actually prepared a little birthday gift for me!!! The bag contained a jar of Uhma's caipirinha peppermint foot soak, a sample of one of the herbal facial products I had liked, and an organic cotton knapsack with the spa logo on it. This was WITHOUT me having purchased any of their products. I told Debora I liked it there so much, I was ready to move in! The staff and owners obviously care about their customers and also about each other. I give this spa absolutely the highest recommendation. I just wish I lived closer to it so I could keep going back!

I booked a spa service for my mother and sister for Mother's Day two months in advance for a specific time and received confirmation from owner. When we arrived for our scheduled appointment we were notified that our appointment had been set for a later time slot. The owner then tells us that the party that has our time slot justed booked that time slot because they were purchasing more services from their spa.... Ladies please do not book here she was very rude about the situation and that is not good business etiquite..... We traveled from Chicago to Miami for Mother's Day and was turned around.... Uhma sucks

We are very sorry that this client left with the feelings they are expressing. At Uhma we go to great lengths to make each and every experience a rich, positive and rewarding one. The ladies' appointments were indeed booked on March 11 for May 8th at 1:30 pm. On April 22nd another family booked multiple appointments for May 8th that would end at 1:10 pm. Out of concern with possible delays that tend to happen with a group booking, we called all clients booked for that day, Miss TiffanyJ included, to move the appointments by half an hour. Between April 26nd and May 2nd, we called her 4 times to the phone number she gave us, and left messages explaining that we had her appointments moved from 1:30 to 2:00 pm, and that if there were any problems with that, for her to please contact us. She never answered the phone or returned the phone messages. We had no problems in moving every one of the other clients' appointments 30 minutes later. On May 8th Ms. TiffanyJ and her party arrived at around 1:25 pm, and were greeted by Debora Almeida, co-owner of Uhma. They said they were here for the 1:30 appointment, to which we replied that we had left several messages about the change in the appointment to 2:00 pm. They said that they had a recording of a conversation with someone (a female) from the spa that proved that she had called back and that her treatments had been confirmed for 1:30. We explained that that wasn't possible, since the only female that spoke to clients on the phone was Debora herself. They did not insist on that argument. The whole group of five (there were only three booked) started to complain very loudly, and to threaten to spread negative information about Uhma, to which we replied that as per our policy, we would not argue with them. When Ms. Tiffany asked in no kind terms what was the reason of the change, we explained that a group had booked appointments for the morning before their appointments, and since in our experience groups tend be late and take longer to leave, and to avoid delays in the start of their appointments, we had moved all appointments by half an hour. We explained that we do this with the sole purpose of protecting our clients from delays in their appointments. They demonstrated no interest at all in getting the treatments done at 2:00 pm, even though this episode lasted until around 1:40 pm. We constantly ask our clients about their experiences, but since this client chose to ignore our messages, didn't have any treatments at Uhma Spa, and demonstrated a very bitter and negative tendency to the whole episode from before the start, we don't see much value in her comments. We also don't think the comments have much value to Spa Finder clients, because as can be seen in other, more articulated and considerate posts on Spa Finder and on other online forums, our clients consider our services and customer service consistently excellent. And so do Allure Magazine - "Best Body Treatment In Miami", the Miami New Times - "Best Massage in Miami", and Talk of the Town - "2010 Talk of the Town Award for Excellence in Customer Satisfaction".

My awesome boyfriend got me a spa journey at Uhma for my birthday in Nov '09, and I have to say, I was pampered from the first moment! Everyone was ready for my arrival, the owner himself personally prepared my organic pomegranate tea as I filled out my information form and enjoyed the delicious dried fruit. My morning began with a fantastic coconut body scrub in the most serene room I've ever seen a spa have! My attendant was super sweet and we chit chatted a bit about how wonderful my man was for organizing all this for me. She was very attentive and knowledgeable- I informed her I had just gotten a tattoo on the tops of my shoulders (as I do every birthday as a tradition) and she assured me she would work around it and keep it completely safe and covered. The scrub smelled delightful and after rinsing it off in the shower, my skin was amazingly supple and buttery! She returned for my Sabai Massage- an award winning favorite at Uhma (my boo had done his research) which utilizes two balls of cloth that is stuffed with herbs and oils. The balls are steamed in a bamboo heater and once at a safe temp, incorporated in the full body massage. THIS WAS HEAVEN! I don't care where you're from or what you do, this service is guaranteed to relax you! Seriously, every inch of my body was tranquil and I honestly felt like a Queen. After that orgasmic-- oh, sorry I mean organic experience, I was lead into a room across the hall for my final treatment- a customized facial. I'm kicking myself for not recalling these amazing women's name's for the purpose of this review- but my technician had a beautiful accent and was gorgeous herself. She spoke softly and every movement was gentle yet efficient. She complimented me on my skin and basically told me there wasn't too much work for her to do (again, the Queen feeling returned) and asked me what I would like her to focus on. This attention to detail, and focus on MY needs stuck out to me, and I knew I had found my favorite spa. She used the decadent (and if you're a connoisseur, expensive) products of Jurlique which left my skin immaculate. Her fingers were light and feathery- and she didn't do a lot of moving/jostling around behind me (which I despise when you're trying to relax). I told her she can do light extraction around my nose since my party was that evening and she obliged courteously. I felt the usual discomfort, but no extreme pain with her extractions and when she was finished, I looked in the mirror and I was glowing. I'm Caribbean and Asian so I was concerned about my skin getting extra puffy or red afterwards, but I appeared to be kissed by angels- I was flawless. All in all, my experience was incredible. I wish the day could go on forever. The staff was attentive and beyond kind. They gave me a sweet gift bag for my birthday (their signature Uhma Nagri body lotion) which was thoughtful, and I promised myself then and there that this was my spot! I love the coziness and intimacy of the place- its not huge and impersonal. Everything from the construction of the spa to the materials they use, and even down to the decor -- organic and magnificent. Thank you, everyone who contributed to my fabulous and phenomenal day. I chose to use my SpaFinder certificate at Uhma Spa because I loved the concept behind it (eco-friendly, organic heaven). I really didn't have expectations because nobody I knew had ever been there. I have been to bigger, well-known "chi chi" spas, but for some reason I have always felt uncomfortable or left wanting more. When I arrived at Uhma I was offered tea and snacks while I filled out a questionnaire and waited for my therapist. I loved the fact that it was smaller than the spas I had been to before because it made the experience more personal and quaint. I have to honestly say, I had the best massage ever!!! The staff was kind, knowledgeable, and very professional. They offer an array of organic products, of which I bought a few. Debra spent a good amount of time helping me choose the right product for me, without being pushy. I strongly recommend this spa...you will not be disappointed.

My girlfriends and I visited this spa in May 2008 while in Miami for a bacholerette weekend. We didnt know much about it, as we booked online. We have been to several spas before and this one is definitely one of the best! The place was very clean, the staff extremely pleasant (especially the owner), and our treatments were so relaxing... they constantly catered to our needs. They went above and beyond our expectations! They were so sweet... because we were visiting for my best friend's bacholerette, they even served us with champagne before we left. I would highly recommend this spa to everyone. The prices are fair, but the value of the service they offer make price not an issue... you have to see for yourself :)

My college friends and I were plannig a "GIRLS WEEKEND." I was in charge of finding the spa. Being from Chicago, I was nervous as I made our appointment for day of relaxaton, never being to the spa before. As we walked in and were greated by Marco, my nerves were melted away before I got to the reception desk. Our entire experience was wonderful. We have decided to make our Maimi trip an annual event and UHMA our official spa for Girl's Weekend!! See you next June, Marco and staff!!!

I just visited Uhma spa in southbeach! It was wonderful. The service was Impeccable! I had an herbal soak, body scrub, 30 minute massage and did a 50 minute personalized yoga class next door at the Miami Life Center. I enjoyed everything except that I found the herbal soak akward. I'm short (5'2) and I couldn't lean back in the tub without slipping because my feet didn't meet the end of the tub. So I would skip that next time. The body scrub and massage were amazing. I'm kind of new at the whole spa thing. The last massage I had was just ok and I was sore the next couple of days. This one was amazing. I felt like she really listened to my requests. The body scrub felt great and really helped my chronically dry skin. The yoga class was nice but I'm kind of a yoga snob and I didn't totally love it. I've never done an individual class before and I found it kind of akward. If I get the privelage to return to the spa I'll spend my money there and skip the yoga!

I had the most luxurious and tranquil spa experience. They were so thorough and were willing to accomodate the needs of the clients. The attention to detail goes unparalled. I want to say thanks to all at that made my mother and I feel comfortable after the Miami marathon. We will definitely be back next year!
