About Dolder Grand
After almost four years of renovation work, the Dolder Grand celebrated its re-opening in 2008. Originally a Curhaus, or health spa, the property was transformed into a luxury-class resort with 173 rooms and suites, two restaurants, banqueting and conference facilities, and a 4,000-square-meter (43,000-square-foot) spa area. The Dolder Grand sits in Zurich's hills, between the city center and surrounding woodland, and guests enjoy a number of recreational facilities, including tennis courts and a golf course. Leading London architect Norman Foster's architectural firm, Foster and Partners, worked on the renovations and combined the historic main building, dating from 1899, with two new, modern wings, the Spa Wing and the Golf Wing, which curve around the fully restored main building, fusing design elements of the past and future.

The new and improved Dolder Grand Spa has a modern feel that brings in design elements from the outdoors. The glass entryway doors are etched with a forest landscape, the relaxation lounge has wicker seating hanging from the ceiling, and the indoor pool area has walls of rough, white stone. Blending European and Japanese traditions, the spa offers an eastern-inspired sunaburo with several egg-shaped tubs filled with hot stones, as well as a cold room filled with snow, and separate saunas and steam rooms for men and women. The spa has 21 treatment rooms and services include facials and body treatments such as seaweed wraps and salt scrubs, as well as laser skin treatments, dermal fillers, and other medical spa treatments. The fitness center offers yoga, Pilates with Reformer, and qigong. The spa also has a hair salon and café.

Rooms & Dining
Accommodations in the original building include hints from the past, such as intricately designed wall coverings and molded cabinetry, while rooms and suites in the newer wings tend to be more modern in style. Each room has a marble bathroom with a shower that can be used as a steam room plus a separate tub. Larger rooms also have fireplaces, and all rooms in the new wings have balconies. The hotel also has a collection of ultrachic signature suites that were inspired by former guests, including the Rolling Stones, Alberto Giacometti, and Giulietta Masina.
With dark wood seating, contemporary lighting features, and commanding floor-to-ceiling mirrors, the Restaurant offers gourmet cuisine in a sophisticated setting. The casual Garden Restaurant has lots of natural light and a large outdoor terrace with a view of the mountains. Light meals, drinks, and fresh pastries are available in the Lobby, and the Bar offers a chic atmosphere with olive-green leather seating, dramatic lighting, and a glossy baby grand piano for evening entertainment.
