In the heart of London you’ll find Dolphin House, the historic landmark property featuring The Spa in Dolphin Square. This hidden gem is Moroccan inspired and boasts an authentic Moroccan Hammam, Rhassoul and salt-infused steam room, in addition to seven treatment rooms. Located adjacent to the banks of the River Thames, surrounded by 3.5 acres of beautifully maintained gardens, Dolphin House, London, offers guests a range of contemporary serviced apartments along with its own Fitness Club, Spa & Bar & Grill. It’s a quick five minute stroll from Pimlico Underground Station – very convenient!
This is the only Spa offering the benefits of signature and combined spa treatments of authentic Moroccan Hammam in London, Rhassoul, and Salt Infused Steam Room experience to relax, revive, restore and re-energise. Dolphin Square’s mineral rich water is drawn from the only working Artesian well in the City of Westminster. Coming directly from the water table this makes a significant benefit to the spa treatments, Dolphin Square’s & Westminster’s environmental status. Plants and products native to Morocco – rose, eucalyptus, olive, Aragan oil – as well as herbs and honey are harvested from the Dolphin Square gardens, are all used to deliver the Spa’s unique rituals.
Once down the stairs from The Dolphin Square Fitness Club, I passed through a set of heavy wooden doors to check in for a Luxury Hamman & Majorelle. I was ushered to the changing rooms, issued a key for a locker to be carried in my robe pocket and given a tour of the facilities as well as the option to rest in the courtyard or enjoy the salt infused steam room. I chose the latter as well as a quick cold shower blast before beginning my Moroccan inspired pampering.
I found the overall environment a warm serene sanctuary; the décor boasts golds and reds, brass and copper with unobtrusive soothing music in the background. My therapist was knowledgeable and took the time to explain the various rituals and the luxurious natural formula potions used to perform them.
After relaxing for fifteen minutes in the salt infused steam room, I was treated to a Luxury Hammam & Majorelle which is a comprehensive top-to-toe Moroccan cleansing experience which begins with a mint leaf foot ritual before a bespoke blend of purifying Savon Noir, a cleansing soap made from crushed olives, olive oil and Eucalyptus, is applied to the body. After relaxing in the steam whilst the treatment draws out impurities, a special exfoliating Kessa glove is used to polish the body. The hair and face are also cleansed, combining the purest Moroccan remedies to restore a fresh complexion. Rhassoul is extravagantly applied to pamper the hair and scalp, whilst you enjoy a tranquil head massage.
A nourishing shea butter concoction is applied to your body and the ritual concludes with a relaxing rinse with luxuriously warm rose water. This treatment prepares the skin for a massage and/or facial. I was escorted to another relaxation room for a traditional aromatherapy massage where I could select a scent of my choosing, an uplifting a vitalising orange blossom. My massage included techniques involving judiciously applied spinal pressures to target the autonomic nervous system and relieve stress-related symptoms.
The Majorelle was a splendid rich honey mask applied to the face finished by a steamed cloth and Aragon Oil face massage. My evening ended with some special tea from the spa’s tea menu in the relaxing lounge before heading back to the tasteful and spacious changing room which are equipped with showers. Leaving was difficult but I did stop and make a gift shop purchase on my way out before going back into the city hustle.
Feeling stressed and in need of respite from the daily grind? The Spa in Dolphin Square is a little hidden gem tucked away from it all.
