History of Leading Spas of the World
In 2002, the Leading Hotels of the World organized a committee of internationally recognized leaders in the spa and wellness industry to devise a set of global standards and to address such issues as uniform levels of training for both spa managers and individual treatment providers. Inspections began in 2004, and in 2005, the company launched Leading Spas as the first international spa evaluation and accreditation program to assure guests a truly luxurious and satisfying spa experience.
From an original collection of 47 properties, there are now more than 100 Leading Spas in 35 countries worldwide, each with a distinctive character reflecting its destination. Every Leading Spa must pass a rigorous, anonymous, annual inspection covering 200 separate criteria to retain its standing. All offer exceptional levels of quality and service to create an unparalleled spa experience.
