Perfect Apres Ski Spa March 10, 2011 | 40 of 60 people found this review helpful
I had the pleasure of visiting this spa after a trip to the Courmayeur ski resort recently (as Geneva is just over an hour from the alps). My body was pretty damaged from the usual wear and tear from skiing and a visit to this oasis was just the ticket. I literally melted into the treatment beds and soaked up everything that was on offer. Their bespoke product line was inspiring and really made the facial I had memorable and effective.
The only disappointment was that my therapist had very little English and I have no French whatsoever so I was not able to communicate with her to get a sense of what was being done throughout the treatments. However, in some ways this might have been a bonus as I was enveloped in a blissful state of silence and could really simply enjoy the treatments.
I agree with other review that you must be very aware of the symbols for male and female...as I accidentally entered the men's locker room for a very brief moment!
Definitely worth a visit when in Geneva and checking out their products is a must.

Nice for the price but could have been better! June 3, 2009 | 13 of 26 people found this review helpful
I visited this spa for the floatation treatment - and it's something I would do again. The reason I only gave service 3 stars is because no one really explained what I should expect in the float room (and didn't even point out that the salty water means cuts and abrasions should be covered with vaseline). It would have been so much better if I had been directed to the handy "Your First Float" guide that was buried under some magazines. I saw it after my float.
Also, the lobby area is a bit run down...versus the treatment rooms which are LOVELY. Had a great Clarins facial - and thought the therapist was fantastic.

Paradise, sun and great spa just 2 hours from the UK!!! June 8, 2009 | 163 of 319 people found this review helpful
What a find! This hotel is so easy to get to from the UK - a 2 hour trip from Luton airport and then an easy 45 minute drive to the hotel. Once you're there it's like being far, far away in pampered luxury. The hotel is 5 star all the way with gorgeous beaches and pools. The Ecologic spa has almost every treatment you can think of. I had one of the best Ayurvedic massages (by Angelica) I've ever had - 1 1/2 hours of pure relaxation. The facilities are beautiful and the staff absolutely welcoming. I couldn't recommend it more. I might treat myself to the 6-day slimming week at the spa next time! Lush.

True slice of Tuscany... August 12, 2009 | 155 of 357 people found this review helpful
This isn't your typical 5-star hotel experience - but that's what makes it special. You won't find a hairdresser or even room service here, but you will find a restored Tuscany estate serving as your hotel! It's stunning scenery - set to be even more impressive when the golf course is finished. The spa isn't part of the hotel - being about 2K off site - but it's a full service spa with two pools (one thermal and one normal). Treatments were lovely and the atmosphere very relaxing. But I thought the stand out feature was the hotel pool - just look at the picture. The views are amazing, there's a nice little bar and a flock of swallows were constantly diving in for a drink - beautiful. When we were there, there were very few others enjoying the pool so it felt incredibly indulgent.
The nearby wine country and Siena make it a great base for exploring the Tuscany countryside.
The grounds are perfect if your planning a wedding - they told me entire wedding parties take over all the rooms. It would be an event to remember.

Just what you want in a local day spa! May 30, 2012 | 8 of 12 people found this review helpful
Tucked away in Cambridge's Grand Arcade, it makes for an easy and convenient day spa experience. Not being a local, I was thrilled to find I parked on the spa's level (all very easy) and could walk to and from my car without running into too many other shoppers. Had a great massage with an obviously experienced therapist. The relaxation room was small but very well appointed. Definitely felt like I had had a nice break from my usual routine!

Fantastic masseuse May 14, 2008 | 55 of 123 people found this review helpful
It's been a while since my visit but I ran across this spa in a recent search and saw that no one had reviewed it! Well I remember having one of the best massages ever on my visit there. The fire and ice treatment rooms were pretty nice if a tad run down and the huge jacuzzi in the middle was absolutely fantastic. I had two treatments - both using Espa products and loved them. Would definitely go back for a 1/2 day experience...

Luxury at it's finest... December 20, 2010 | 202 of 387 people found this review helpful
I visited quite a few 5-star spas in Switzerland one lucky week last summer...and this was the last one I experienced. You could call it the cherry on the top. Truly stunning in terms of design - it melds an old architecture with modern architecture beautifully. This place has everything (in fact, we did get a little befuddled by all the techno gadgets in our room!) and the spa is as beautiful as it appears here.
I had probably my most favourite treatment here - using Kerstin Florian products. Would highly recommend it as a great place to visit for a weekend getaway to Zurich - a fabulous city worth visiting!

Heaven on the hillside August 12, 2009 | 457 of 941 people found this review helpful
There aren't too many words that can capture the utter beauty that is Tuscany in the summertime. Then to put on top of that one of the most beautiful spa experiences in the world and I'm rendered utterly speechless! But I'll try...breathtaking views from every pool (and there are many!); relaxing thermal waters; an on-site doctor guiding you to the treatments you want/need; a plethora of treatments on offer for both inner and outer beauty and wellness; fine dining overlooking hillsides of gold. I could go on and on. Suffice to say - Fonteverde is a place I would HIGHLY recommend - even if you're just passing through and visit as a day guest you can still enjoy the luxury of it's pure natural beauty, superb spa and fine dining.

Once in a lifetime in Italy! August 7, 2009 | 323 of 746 people found this review helpful
Just take a look at the picture of the "grotta" - and then you can see what I mean about "once in a lifetime"! It's the most amazing natural steam room you could ever visit. A cave unearthed by quarry diggers over 150 years ago. Broken down into three parts - paradiso, purgatory and enferno - it's well worth a visit. And the health claims of this "purified" environment are impressive...but to truly reap the benefits to your joints, lungs, etc., you need to spend at least a week or so. The outdoor pools - one thermal and one normal - are absolutely amazing and inviting. I had a draining massage which was perfectly executed - my only gripe might be a lack of communication due to the Italian/English divide. I didn't rate the fitness simply because I didn't visit the gym and can't really say - but I did go on the morning walk which I really loved. The hotel itself is beautiful and only 30 minutes from Florence! What more could you want from a Tuscany spa experience?

It's not the biggest spa in the world but the property is absolutely amazing - you can't go wrong. The therapists were wonderful and the spa pool fantastic.

Fantastic spa getaway September 29, 2011 | 14 of 32 people found this review helpful
I would say run don't walk to Lifehouse if you're looking for a quick spa break in the UK. The gorgeous grounds made me simply smile...if that makes sense. Little discoveries to be found while wondering peacefully around secluded ponds or taking a vigorous bike ride across the fields! Treatments were great and the rooms absolutely perfect. Food was undescribably good. And the fitness instructors made the hard-core boot camps fun and the more mellower yoga and core classes relaxing and invigorating.

Stunning spa and hotel that constantly surprised and delighted! October 16, 2012 | 2 of 2 people found this review helpful
This is without question one of the most beautiful spas I've ever visited. It's a place where you can completely relax and unwind. The furnishing and artwork throughout are absoluely fabulous - you could sink into a white, overstuffed sofa or chair in the relaxation room (which is more like a huge living room space) and leaf through any number of gorgeous artbooks while sipping tea and awaiting your next indulgent treatment. I had a hamman experience and feel completely in love. It's obvious that the therapists here not only love what they do but are incredibly talented.

Bliss in the California sunshine January 27, 2009 | 63 of 118 people found this review helpful
It's been a while since I visited Ojai Valley Inn but I was just researching a spa for an upcoming break in California and was reminded just how much my husband and I enjoyed celebrating our anniversary at this gorgeous property.
It's easy to get to from LA; there are tons of things to do; but you'll be just as happy sitting by the spa pool in between treatments and various fitness classes. Absolutely loved it.

Great spa experience near Istanbul May 25, 2010 | 164 of 330 people found this review helpful
I had the chance to spend just one night here recently and completely fell in love. My husband and I visited after spending 5 days in Istanbul - both for work and pleasure. We thought a trip to a spa would be a great end to the adventure. It was...and we only wished we'd had a few more days to spend here.
Both of us had two treatments each - and enjoyed them all. My massage was one of the best I've ever had - the massage couch itself played a huge role as it was almost like lying on a Tempur mattress. So comfortable! Everything here was top quality - the hot, cold & water treatments were probably the best I've ever seen. I especially LOVED the 2-level Finnish sauna which literally smelt of freshly cut wood and felt amazing coupled with the Ice Grotto. But there was also a salt jacuzzi and separate jet pool and four different steam experiences; great showers and relaxation rooms (the Tepidarium being my favourite).
I didn't visit the fitness facilities - which is why I didn't rank them here - but they have Hypoxi equipment which is supposed to help you lose inches fast. And looked like something I'd like to try on a longer visit.
Not only was the spa amazing, but the property sits on a beautiful lake and has gorgeous views from every room.

Nothing says "Happy Birthday" like a day out at The Sanctuary March 18, 2010 | 111 of 216 people found this review helpful
A full day of bliss, in the company of other smiling, happy women. The Sanctuary is really what it says on the tin - a complete oasis in the middle of fast-paced London. If you didn't have to walk through Covent Garden to arrive at its chic, but unassuming store-front, you'd literally never know you were in town. The Sanctuary is its own world. Once you slip up the stairs at the back of the store, you are in spa heaven...ladies in white robes fill the lounges and hallways, either chatting quietly or reading the abundance of magazines on offer.
Spa staff are always around to help guide you through the facilities and to find your treatment room.
Lunch in the Koi Lounge was easy and delicious as was the end of day tea.

Calming oasis in the city... July 17, 2009 | 265 of 534 people found this review helpful
The spa is as groovy as the hotel! It's been a while since I've been there but the Aromatherapy Associates facial I had was lovely. And the ambiance of the spa - with it's big white curtains breaking up the rooms makes a nice change to usual treatment and relaxation rooms. Can make it slightly less private, however.
Not sure about fitness facilities so I didn't rate.

If you've ever been to an Espa spa, then you'll know what to expect! The treatments were FABULOUS - my therapist was amazing. I don't remember ever having a facial by a man, but he was terrific. The location of the hotel is stunning. Don't miss the walk up the boardwalk to the piers. Gorgeous!

Vive la French... December 18, 2009 | 121 of 269 people found this review helpful
Sofitel St James is a great combo of traditional British architecture and design with a glorious French twist. The SO Spa (great name!) is housed in an old bank that has somehow been transformed into an oasis of beauty and relaxation. I have experienced Cinq Monde products one other time (in Monaco) and was thrilled to find the treatments closer to home. I had a Ko Bi Do facial - and came out feeling so refreshed and renewed that I bought the entire line of products that they used on me - they smell glorious and I'm convinced they actually work.
All the therapists are clearly very professional, but i knew I'd really love Claire when she treated me to much needed "extractions" (not sure if it was part of the facial) but it made all the difference. And reminded me what I love about French Estheticians.

A little oasis in Buckingham February 9, 2010 | 33 of 61 people found this review helpful
Had an absolutely wonderful massage here by Nikki...I believe there are a few treatment rooms but I was in the back, adjacent to the reception desk and found it peaceful and lovely. It's a small but nicely appointed spot - wish it was closer to home so I could pop over regularly.

Feels like being in a world of your own December 20, 2010 | 129 of 267 people found this review helpful
There's something magical about this spa. I'm not sure if the pictures do it justice as it's one of the most fantastic places I've ever been - in terms of glorious surroundings and architectural interest. The view from our suite was literally breathtaking. It felt like we were part of the mountains. We were there in the summer, so no snow but plenty of hiking in the surrounding mountains - and taking the private tram to the top of the mountain made us feel incredibly spoiled!
I agree with other review that there were a surprising number of children in the pools but did notice that when I visited during the day, there were very few (they seem to come in after their day time activities). The spa therapy rooms themselves are stunning (and housed inside the cathedral like glass towers...every attention to detail is given. A very knowledgeable and talented staff was on hand at all times...oh, and the food was terrific.
The only thing I'd mention is that we drove up the hill and I understand taking a train is a much easier/quicker option.
