About New Life Hiking Spa

Situated in the lush Green Mountains of Vermont since 1978, New Life Hiking Spa is an authentic, affordable, all-inclusive destination spa renowned for its personalized weight loss, wellness and fitness programs. Open each season from mid-May through the beginning of October, New Life will reopen for its 40th anniversary at the newly renovated Killington Mountain Lodge.

New Life is one of the oldest and most established destination spas in the U.S. and was named the #1 Travel and Destination Spa in 2016 by Travel + Leisure Magazine. It has also won numerous Spafinder Wellness Travel awards for fitness, affordability, outdoor adventure and activities, nutrition and healthy cuisine, and yoga, as well as being voted “Best for Men.”

The New Life program accommodates up to 55 guests at a time, and each year people travel from around the world to attend 21 night extended wellness vacations, eleven-night weight loss retreats, five-to-ten night jump-start getaways and two-to- four night mini-wellness escapes.

Located in Killington at the Appalachian Trail and Long Trail, New Life offers diverse terrains that will challenge hikers at every level. Because the number of guests is limited, each visitor is able to focus on his or her individual needs with the support of New Life’s superb staff, who help guests change eating, exercising and living patterns over time.

Three levels of hiking are offered each day.  A nature walk, an intermediate hike and an advanced hike are provided and staffed with expert hiking guides who have extensive knowledge of the Vermont trails.  No other destination spa offers the level of guided hikes that New Life Hiking Spa does.  The cooler temperatures in Vermont's Green Mountains allow for hiking during the daytime hours.

New Life was also named one of the three best summer stays of 2015 by Rand McNally, one of four great weight loss spas by Health Magazine, and one of 2016’s “Affordable Spas for a Rejuvenating Getaway” by Travel + Leisure magazine.

Plan ahead and secure your spot for 2018, as New Life Hiking Spa often sells out months in advance. The 2018 dates will be May 17 - October 1.

Lovely vacation!
There is no other vacation out there that delivers this amount of service for this price.

Best priced destination spa out there!
I have gone to many destination spas…let’s just say I’m a junkie! This is by far the best price of any out there. I wasn’t sure what to expect because the price was so low, but I did get the best hiking and best massage of anywhere I have ever been. The staff is incredible. The owner, Jimmy, is an interesting guy and runs an awesome program. The hotel is more than adequate and very clean and the fact that I got a private room with a private bathroom for this price is very surprising. I have been to the “higher end” destination spas and while the accommodations at New Life are not anything close to those, the hiking, food & massage are better or on par with those. For the price of an 11 night retreat at New Life was almost to the penny what I spent on a weekend at another spa.

Awesome hiking, food & massage
I came this season for the first time and it was amazing. This is one of those vacations you have to experience to really get the full picture of what it is. I had a nice little, private room with a super comfortable bed, three wonderful meals a day, beautiful guided hikes each morning. I was there for 6 nights, so I got two massages included with my stay. I came by myself and was completely comfortable. For the entire thing, I just paid about $1,600 with tax and everything. I got a special for booking early. I didn’t do too many afternoon classes, but yoga was great and I enjoyed a fitness class by Jess. The combo of the guests, the staff and the food/dining hall are just a neat little mix that makes a it great time away. A reboot I needed. Thank you New Life-I will be back!

One of a Kind Wellness Vacation
I attended New Life Hiking Spa in September of 2015 at the beginning of fall foliage and it was spectacular. I met interesting people (the guests and the staff), got some great hiking in and ate tasty healthy food. Massages were fantastic. This is a nice, low-key wellness vacation and the price can’t be beat for what New Life Hiking Spa offers. I will be returning next summer, just like everyone else who was there. Great place, one of a kind vacation.

Great vacation-affordable, fun, healthy
I went for a week in September. More like adult camp with massages. Simply a great experience. The hikes and hiking guides are the best. One of my top vacation experiences ever. Planning on going back next summer. Many repeat guests. This is not a luxury spa, but more of a retreat. Nothing else out there like it. Great place. Thanks New Life!

I have been to many spa vacations and this one is the best spa vacation for the best price! First of all, it’s in Vermont, so you feel like you are in another country, or at least very far away from reality. Secondly, this program is top notch. It is run like clockwork (maybe since they have been doing it for 38 years). Staff and hiking guides were beyond excellent. Hike gorgeous. Food and cooking demos fabulous. Massages with gifted healers. Accommodations were basic, but fine, clean and very comfortable bed. Dining area was perfect for a solo traveler. I am already planning on returning next year. I am also recommending this vacation to all my friends. No better value out there. Thank you New Life Hiking Spa! Don’t ever change!!!

This is not a real spa
I went to NLHS in 2014 at Inn of Six Mountains and again this year at the Cortina Inn. Both are 2 stars. It is not a Spa. It promises other "services"; the only service available both years was massage. I found a very good masseuse, by trial and error. This year they changed my requested masseuse to another without telling or asking me if it was okay. The massage area consists of re-purposed motel rooms at end of hall. Fitness classes are basic and held in a dark, dismal room in basement. I found the instructors did not provide enough guidance in proper form or alignment. There is virtually no difference between Pilates, or Strength Training. There was no discussion of the Pilates C-curve or stance. Pilates used same ball and band as strength training. Many exercises were performed kneeling -- no modifications were offered for bad knees. Rooms were 3-star at best, and my room 2-stars: clean, no towel bars, very high step into tub with no grab bar. Bathroom door must be closed to use sink. Patio too dirty/noisy to use. Adequate Food, Some staff people were excellent, management indifferent, if not offensive. Excellent Hiking guides and VT always beautiful. Go for the hiking; go elsewhere for a spa.

Spa Day!!!
This spa made me feel so relax, this was one of the best spas I've been to in a long time.

Best vacation of my life!
I have been to New Life Hiking Spa 3 times in the past 5 years. I just came back from 11 nights with them at their new location and it was the BEST vacation ever! After decades at a hotel in Killington, they have moved down the street to a better hotel and it made a huge difference. I kept coming back because of the wonderful hikes, food and massage...incredible programming!!! But, this time, my stay was just perfect. It is an incredible value and if you book during one of their specials, the price can't be beat. This spa is only open May - September. I am checking out today and I hope to come back this season. I love New Life!

Great Program
This is a great program and I have been there twice. I am sorry that the place was yelped and the tons of reviews that were in the system last year have all been erased. What gives? This is not about the hotel. It's about the fitness program. If you want luxury and want to pay for it, go elsewhere. This place is for people who seriously want to get into shape and alter their lifestyle. One doesn't spend much time in the hotel except to sleep. Start at dawn with yoga stretch looking toward the mtns. Marvelous breakfast. 3-4 hikes to choose from. Back to nourishing lunch. Afternoon tent activities aqua exercise, fit ball, dance, spin, etc., Awesome dinner. Free massage every 3 days. Nutrition class at night. Meals served family style. Group definitely motivates - 20 to 30 people at a time. This is a spa for your own action and not for you to be acted upon. This is suitable for all fitness levels. Many returnees.
