Each day at Golden Door is a balance of vigorous movement and total relaxation, as guests discover the meaning of true wellbeing. Personal Program interviewers work with each guest to develop a customized exercise schedule tailored to fitness levels, goals, and preferences, while handpicked fitness guides act as mentors, providing one-on-one coaching, monitoring progress, and adjusting workout schedules.
Blending current fitness therapies with ancient disciplines, Golden Door’s broad array of classes include yoga, tai chi, Feldenkrais®, meditation, flexibility training, cycling, cardio boxing, aqua yoga, and dance; private sessions can be requested for an additional fee. Most of these classes are offered at the state-of-the-art fitness facilities, which include three aerobic gyms, an Inner Focus retreat, a Pilates studio, group cycling room, a 1,000-square-foot equipment gym, Watsu water therapy pool, tennis courts, and solarium. Meanwhile, enlightening “inner focus” classes—self-hypnosis, biofeedback, stress management, labyrinth walks, private garden tours, “seed-to-table” sessions, and joyful living—cultivate self-awareness.

Rooms & Dining
With a design evocative of a Japanese honjin inn, guest rooms at Golden Door promote tranquility. Each room is decorated with the purposeful simplicity of antique Japanese artwork and a traditional tokonoma meditation shrine; a deck overlooking Japanese gardens allows for private moments of reflection.
As well, Golden Door visitors will notice the destination’s Japanese art collection scattered throughout the grounds; designed to inspire, the collection, with pieces dating back to the 18th-century Edo period, includes Kasuga lanterns illuminating pathways, rice paper room-divider screens, and a protective “temple guardian” to offer shelter.
Dining is a thoughtful experience at Golden Door, with every dish served intended to be “a banquet for the eyes, soul, and palate.” The property celebrates bio-dynamic farming methods, and much of the produce used for cooking is sourced from the on-site organic garden, paired with locally raised, free-range poultry and freshly caught fish from the Pacific Ocean. Prepared in the kitchen where spa cuisine was first served, fare is colorful and inventive, featuring low-fat, low-calorie meals.
