As the weather gets colder it can be hard to know what to wear, especially if you exercise outside. It is very important to ensure that you keep warm but also make sure that you don’t over heat whilst out for a run or cycling. The happy medium can be hard to find sometimes, so we’ve put together a few tips to help you stay comfortable whilst exercising outside this winter.
1. Wear Layers
Leave the house nicely wrapped up, that way you can de-layer as you go. Remember to still stay adequately wrapped because exercise generates a considerable amount of heat which can create the illusion that it’s far warmer than it actually is. 2. Keep Everything Covered
Wearing a hat and gloves will make sure that you keep every part of your body snug. Keeping your head warm is especially important as it ensures that your body doesn’t lose valuable heat.
3. Stay Dry
It’s no surprise that Britain experiences wetter weather in the winter, were all a little too familiar with rain here, so make sure that you invest in decent waterproof attire which will keep you dry while you exercise outdoors but at the same time won’t limit your movement or weigh you down.
4. Wear Good Shoes
Running through wet, fallen leaves or on icy surfaces can be very dangerous, so ensure you have trainers with a decent grip and that you watch where you’re treading. They also need to be waterproof to make sure that your feet stay dry and comfortable.
5. Be Visible
If you are exercising in the dark then make sure you are visible to oncoming cars and other pedestrians, investing in a reflective vest or reflective tape will keep you safe and feeling more confident as the days get darker.
