What happens on a Champneys spa break at Eastwell Manor…
Just a short train journey from London, my friend and I arrived in Ashford for a much needed girly spa break at Eastwell Manor, A Champneys Resort. At approximately 3pm we pulled up to the hotel in the heart of the Kent countryside. It was hard to believe we were only a couple of hours from the capital as all of our stresses were forgotten and we were mesmerised by the impressive grounds.
Upon entering, we were greeted by the warm and welcoming staff. Once checked in, we were shown to our room by a knowledgeable and friendly member of staff who educated us on the history of Eastwell Manor including former owners who the rooms are named after. We stayed in a room named after Hugo de Montford who took over possession of Eastwell Manor in 1069. In the fashion of Neo-Elizabethan manor house itself, the room was grand and spacious with stunning views of the rose garden.
After settling in our room, we slipped into our robes and flip-flops eager to check out the new Champneys spa and explore the sprawling grounds. The spa is incredibly glamorous and modern, a real juxtaposition of the traditional manor. The state-of-the-art facilities include an indoor swimming pool, sauna, steam room, hydrotherapy pool, treatment rooms, everything you would expect from the brand Champneys and more.
So, what’s special about Champneys spa break treatments?
By prebooking, the spa was able to accommodate us so our treatments were at the same time at 4pm. We both opted for full body massages. My massage therapist was skilled and calming. I informed her of my areas of concern including my lower back pain and she tailored the 55 minute massage to my needs. I left the treatment room blissfully relaxed and met my friend in the relaxation room. As our massages were at the same time, we were able to make the most of the spa facilities together. We especially loved the cabana style beds around the pool, which were perfect for a girly catch up chat.
We walked back to our room enjoying the warm Autumn evening to get ready for dinner in the Manor restaurant. The food is influenced by the classic Kent countryside with a modern twist and is all beautifully presented. I had the steak for my main with the excellent truffle oil and parmesan chips. Followed by the millionaires shortbread a tasty treat for dessert. Even though the restaurant was busy it didn’t feel crowded and all the staff were very attentive. I’d also recommend the lounge bar as a cosy escape for a night cap.
Is a Champneys spa break really worth it?
In the morning, we went for breakfast in the Manor restaurant again and walked around the grounds before our check out time of 11am. We were able to spend longer at the spa and enjoy the fitness activities on offer. Plus, there were a plethora of outdoor activities on offer if you wish to explore such as golf, tennis and lawn games. We even caught a glimpse of the falconry.
As we arrived back in London, we were refreshed and both felt as though we had been there longer than just one night. Overall, I would highly recommend an overnight stay at Eastwell Manor, A Champneys Resort and have already recommended the hotel to friends and family. Can’t wait to visit again!
