The Salzkammergut is a remarkable region of alpine and sub-alpine lakes and home to one of the most famous Upper Austrian lakes. Its warm thermal springs which are that of drinking water quality line up beautifully surrounded by a stunning mountain backdrop. Experience the calm and exquisite at Wörthersee, Wolfgangsee, Traunsee, Hallstättersee and Mondsee, one of the warmest lakes in the Salzkammergut.
Golf & Spa
During the summer months once the snow has cleared off the mountain tops visitors travel to the picturesque hills in Austria to play golf. The Spanish Riding School of Vienna
Visit Vienna to see the beautiful Lipizzaner stallions perform demanding dressage manoeuvres to Viennese classical music in the Hofburg. Or you might prefer a guided tour of their world famous stud farm in Piber, where the Lipizzaner horses are bred and trained in their early years.
Whilst in Vienna visit Café Residenz to see and learn how to perfect the technique of rolling an apple strudel. The original bakers at this café once served the Royal Family at Schonbrunn Palace. If you simply want to sit and try this traditional dessert you can take a seat within the café and enjoy a slice served with warm vanilla sauce.
Rated as one of Europe’s top 5 ski resorts and known for its well snowed mountains St Anton is a popular destination for skiers. However the area is continually growing with family friendly hotels, chalets and restaurants which offer non-skiing activities meaning there is something for everyone to enjoy. Despite its expansion St Anton remains authentic to its heritage and is still an extremely attractive town.
Crystal Worlds: Swarovski Kristallwelten
Experience a breath-taking world of crystals in Wattens near Innsbruck: in 1995 the Swarovski Crystal Worlds were established on the occasion of the centenary anniversary of the foundation of the crystal company Swarovski. Already the entrance of the museum amazes the visitors, as it features the shape of a huge spouting head of an alpine giant, created by the Austrian artist, writer and actor André Heller. This attraction features a playtower an areacaters for all the family with a separate children’s tower play area.
The Floating Opera Stage of the Bregenz Festival
Floating on Lake Constance along the shore of Bregenz is one of the world’s most impressive opera stages. The open air theatre has become famous over the years for its artistic design; it is one of several venues that host performances each year during the Bregenze festival. For the avid James Bond fan you have already seen this stage which features in a scene during the 2008 film Quantum of Solace.
Salzburg: The home of Sound of Music
Sound of music fans you are in the home of The World-famous musical and film The Sound of Music. You can spend a day in the hills of St Glen following the footsteps of the Vonn Trapp family admiring the scenery and replicating Maria (St Glen is where Maria sings verse in the opening of the film). Or why not visit the Von Trapp former family home which has been converted into a hotel with the ground floor dedicated to their life story.
