What Is A Paraffin Wax Treatment?
A paraffin wax treatment is used on the hands or feet to soften skin. This luxurious treat can help you achieve baby-soft skin and combat dryness and cracking. This makes it ideal in the cold of winter or the heat of summer when skin on the hands and feet can be at its driest. Want to get sandal-ready for the summer? Why not combine a pedicure and paraffin wax treatment for feet that are both soft and polished?
How Does a Paraffin Wax Treatment Work?
Typically applied during manicures and pedicures, paraffin wax bonds to the skin very well. It is applied in layers and as it hardens it allows emollient to wrap around the skin to soften it, whilst the heat opens pores which further increases its effectiveness. During a treatment your hands or feet are submerged in the wax several times, wrapped in plastic, and left to soak for 15-30 minutes. Calming essential oils like lavender are often added to the wax to maximise the soothing and relaxing feeling. Once the skin has soaked in the wax, it is removed in one piece which helps to eliminate dead skin cells, leaving your skin softer, smoother, and more elastic!
What Are the Benefits of a Paraffin Wax Treatment?
As well as making your skin feel super soft and smooth, this treatment can also improve stiff joints. This is because the wax fits your hand or foot perfectly, and holds plenty of heat that will transfer to joints and muscles. This heat helps increase blood flow and relax muscles.
Does a Paraffin Wax Treatment Remove Hair?
In short, no. Paraffin wax is quite different to the wax used to remove hair. It is softer and has a lower melting point.
